$189 Transmission Flush + Filter. ....for real?

Just a flush and fill at my dealer is about $300. I guess a lot depends on where you live and prevailing labor costs.

When i was calling dealers for a price I figured something out. If you start your question with "transmission fluid" they must look at some drop down box on a screen that leads them to give you to price to use the machine and just pump out the fluid. Everyone seems to think that is a terrible idea. If you start your question with "I want the transmission filter changed" you get the price for the drop the pan service. If you do the drop the pan service tell them you want a new gasket, or they will just reuse the old one. Mine leaked. The new gasket was like $3.

I posted a 10r80 flush video during a previous atf flush conversion, according to that Ford approved method the flush machine is hooked up to a port located on the upper passenger side and the dipstick port is the other hookup, the flush is conducted with the engine running which would flush the converter, the process with the flush machine does not take long, the main value add of the flush machine appears to be measuring the amount of fluid pumped out and replacing it with an equivalent amount of new ATF.

Trans pan gasket is way more than $3, they're approaching $60 these days.

I would like to know where you purchased the pan gasket that cheap for 10R80 transmission. The cheapest I have found it anywhere is $35 and from Ford it is around 50 dollars. I have changed my fluid twice and drop the pan both times and still on the same gasket they are designed to be reused if you do not abuse them.

after mine leaked i took it back. They dropped the pan a second time and replaced the gasket. The price was on the second bill. It was cheap. i really think it said $3. It was so cheapo I was really annoyed the didnt change it the first time and I had to go home and clean my driveway with a lot more than $3 worth of cleaner.

Sounds like my experience without the cute girl - the Ford service advisor dude told me about the two services with the fluid exchange being relatively cheap and the pan drop/filter replace being much higher. I left it for the fluid swap and they did the higher priced service. The service manager says I have a credit for the difference when I go back - guess I'll book a brake fluid swap.

My dealer supposedly used the BG machine, yet they somehow extremely overfilled the tranny. I still still can't figure out how, they even had the Fitzstick to make it stupid proof.

Fitzstick makes it stupid proof. Not dealer tech proof ? you don’t see what you don’t check lol. That’s my opinion. I haven’t been to the dealership since my warranty expired. I didn’t want an issue if something happened under warranty and being denied.

I stopped by dealer yesterday to swap Ford semi-syn oil for their full syn engine oil.
I stopped at the service desk to talk to the manager about a flush for my 10R80. He was busy, but his assistant is hot, hot. So I asked her. Some lower price for a dump, filter, refill. $189 for a flush + filter. Blink, blink. I asked her for the price using their flush machine. $189.

They say if it is to good to be true, it probably isn't.
Thoughts please.

While still under warranty at 50K miles my tranny had been acting up, nothing severe but more annoying. I inquired about a filter and fluid change, which I should have done at 30K, service rep, who I have been using for a few years said it was recommended to do a flush only, which was just over 300 because the filter and fluid was around 900!! That is because they replace the pan when it is removed. Crazy, right! This was all from the service rep at the Ford dealer I have used for years. Normally flushes are not a good idea because it can create issues, but I opted for the flush because it's under warranty and being done at an established dealer. The flush worked real well, no issues and the weird shifting issues went away. Now at 72K it's starting to exhibit some of those same issues. One thing I have done that seems to work well for the tranny is to drive in tow haul mode, it shifts better, at least mine does. She may have been quoting you for another vehicle or service. Good luck...

I'm at 30K plus change. Trans is working great and I want to keep it that way for as long as possible.
CDF module seems to be the main culprit according to this forum. But the solenoid control valve body turns up as another problem....from micro debris. I doubt if the flush will help the clutch module, but it may help the valve body. Any engine or transmission generates break in debris. Engine oil change frequency covers this. But I'm not taking any chances with the 10R80.
