I’m installing mine soon. I may drill a hole to disable. I wonder if the damper police would catch on?
Yes we will. I have spies everywhere. :bandit::inspect:?

Last weekend, I decided to climb into the bed using my usual method of grasping the side rail and stepping up onto the rear tire. After shuffling some stuff around, I decided to exit the bed via the tailgate, which was in the fully-upright and latched position. I reached down and unlatched the tailgate. Not wanting it to slam open on the cables (which probably would have survived the impact) I proceeded to lower it gently into the open position. Everything was going well, until a white-hot lightning bolt of pain hit my surgery-needing arthritic shoulder.

So today, I turned-in my Man Card and installed the damper.

Well, this is the one and only useful purpose of a TGD. If you can't get into the bed with the tailgate down, do what Mike does and add a TGD if you must.

Could it be Al's finally coming around. :shock: He's openly admitting there's a useful purpose for a damper. I knew you'd see the light soon enough buddy!:like:

Good grief, taking things out of context just like a politician!

The Damper fixes everything.
@JohnnyO knows.
Tailgate slamming down, sore shoulder, fuel in the oil, thrown rod parts 1 and 2, tires overinflated... get the TGD and those issues never happen!!!
Scientific proof - it was my one of my first additions and I have not had any of those issues. :wink:

Still holding out but I recently had my tailgate slip out of my hand as I had the other hand holding stuff.....then I understood why people do it. I have an XLT, I use a key for the ignition and I have manual seats. I am holding out on the dampener ?
