Likely for the powertrain. If they can show/prove (not hard with a tune) that the failure was caused by X modification. You are paying to fix it. Could they void the warranty covering the blend door... That I a bit of a stretch. However... blow the diff and they see a tune and sticky tires.... Not much of a leap to blame that on you.I'm sure it gets asked and answered a lot.
Does running a different tune like Unleashed void the warranty?
Same here. Now I just gotta figure out where the the slip joint is lol.Thats me also , i am going to lube that damn slip yoke and see if that helps with getting rear ended , mechanic at dealer test drove and said "no issues" , but he was holding his neck when he got back, , so...
Part in the rear driveshaft that has a large accordion style rubber boot on it.Same here. Now I just gotta figure out where the the slip joint is lol.
Mine will do that occasionally from 10th to 9th. long pause, then slams into gear. Its annoying. It hasn't done it in awhile, but I've not been driving it in awhile, either. Its done it when I've been towing and the rare times it went into 10th and then back into 9th. When towing at hwy speeds, tow mode on, it rarely even goes into 9th.My tranny was perfect up till I hit 93K then one day it started to act strangely...long pause between 1st and 2nd, revs continues up and then sudden engagement causing a big lurch...I've since changed the fluid...first was a 6.5 quart extraction/replacement...a few week later, I did a another 7.5 quart extraction/replacement with filter change...things have gotten better but still acting strangely....first start up, shifts perfectly normal...after warm up (10 miles +), 1-2nd lurch, 6-7 lurch, 6-5 down shift lurch...nothing as crazy as before the fluid change but annoying as hell...
Do you run it in D all the time or Sport mode? I do find the same issue as you sometimes. I always drive in Sport mode as I like the get up and go feeling. My transmission is harsh as hell too. When coming to a stop, if I don't slow down and come to a stop a certain way, it gives me a "thump" that feels like I just got rear ended. I just learned to live with it. Up-shifts are smooth, but downshifts around town is horrible. There are times when the stars align, and the transmission runs super smooth, but most of the time I have the above issues. Transmission is probably my biggest complaint with this truck
I keep it on D most of the time. I tried S and didn’t make much difference. If anything sometimes it’s worse on SDo you run it in D all the time or Sport mode? I do find the same issue as you sometimes. I always drive in Sport mode as I like the get up and go feeling.
What I’ve learned is that I thought I had transmission problems. come to find out I had no fluid in my rear diff of course my truck has way more miles then yours, but you never knowWanted to get some thoughts on the 10R80. My truck is back in the shop for the second time to look at the transmission, the typical harsh shifts and very poor downshifts when stopping even slightly quickly. The dealer put me in a 2022 Explorer that has the 2.3l and the 10 speed. This brand new explorer is doing the exact same thing my truck is doing, poor upshifts and downshifts.
Thinking into this some I think it is either my driving style or poor design of the transmission. I drive 120 miles a day with 90 miles on the highway with cruise set at 73-75. Overall I am pretty easy on the truck. Could this all be correlated to my drive?
Bringing this back up bad damn I just drove home from work today and the downshifting was horrible. I tried tow mode the 1st bit of my drive and the truck shifted really rough so put it back in normal on the highway and buttery smooth. Then again on all the streets closer to my house started the harsh downshifts again. Mainly ant speeds below 40. And that was in normal the second time. Only 5000 miles on this truck so I guess I’ll wait a bit more but this is weird. The last three weeks shifting has been great. The one time I try tow mode shifting sucked and then sucked again when I put it back in normal. Highway was great. This thing rides like an unbroken horse, not exactly what I want out of my transmission though. Only other thing I did was air my tires up last night. This thing has a mind of its own I tell ya.My transmission is harsh as hell too. Give me another 90k miles first lol. If my first ford vehicle blows up a tranny at 5000 miles, they can swap it out at the same time as the windshield adhesive they owe me. So judging by the parts availability at my local dealer, should be sometime next year.
That is if the mysterious fuel in the oil and excessive non tampered tailgate speed don’t take my truck out first. Shit, now I’m gonna start having nightmares… I walk out to check my beautiful truck, smell fuel, pull the dipstick and it’s flowing out the tube. I go under the truck to look and notice the carrier bearing on fire and the transmission leaking. Stand back up and start running away and while crossing the rear of the truck to get in the house the tailgate falls off. If only I had gotten a damper.
