  1. FordPass is watching us?

I just find it funny that companies like Google put those lights to show when the device is listening, as if it cannot “listen” when the light is off. Then companies like Ring stating that they don’t use “facial recognition” on their devices but don’t say anything about “acoustic recognition”...
  2. FordPass is watching us?

Well, why does “OK Google” then show the privacy light on Android phones, telling me the microphone is in use? Wouldn’t the light come on as soon as you say “OK Google”? Makes me question if any of these privacy settings actually do anything…
  3. What does these wires do?!

So for those who have an externally installed (trailer mounted) brake controller, these wires should be left open/disconnected correct? I have an autowbrake that mimics a surge brake, that is supposedly “compatible with the AEB system” because it’s using a gyro, not brake pressure, but still...
  4. Solution-Leg rash Tremor steps.

The stock side steps are fine until you are doing something (wiring, stereo upgrade, etc.) with a tool in hand and blocking your view (like a soldering iron) of the ground and then give blood. Always gets in the way when you are working on the truck, never when actually entering.
  5. FordPass is watching us?

I read an article where a sex offender was able to be tracked via Google Maps usage, so it isn’t a conspiracy - even when not actively sharing analytics data law enforcement can use Google Maps and other services to find someone. I also know a decade ago OnStar already had the ability to locate...
  6. FordPass is watching us?

I once worked at a company where I was a manager and we drug tested our field employees. One failed a test due to testing positive for cocaine, and since our line of work was in utilities, one accident could be fatal for many. We fired him the next day. I wonder if insurance companies now use...
  7. Ford Protect ESP at $25 over Dealer Cost from Granger Ford!- PAYMENT PLAN AVAILABLE!!!

Does this plan (Premium Care) cover claims after the truck has been use for recreational, not commercial, towing? I use my truck to tow occasionally, and don’t want them to say “you used it to tow your camper and hence your ball joints aren’t covered” if something like that were to happen...
  8. FordPass is watching us?

So for those who’d like to know, what do you pull (Telematics fuse?) to stop the data collection? Surely you lose features, but for some, it’s worth it. Does it set any codes or will the dealer refuse service if you disable the power to the Telematics unit?
  9. FordPass is watching us?

Who is watching the credit card? And what list is going to what companies? Inquiring minds would like to know.
  10. FordPass is watching us?

My insurance company already sends an unmarked person around renewal time (usually in a nondescript vehicle, like a black Dodge Caravan) to take photos of my property and analyze risk based upon what’s visible. So if you have a bunch of paint and flammable items on your back porch (even if...
  11. One Year Review

Lol. You’re the first person I know to have tried to drift a Camry. Probably would’ve been entertaining to watch.
  12. One Year Review

Especially with the off road package, you’d think they’ve beefed up the suspension components. I’ve literally done more off road in a Camry (cumulatively, when going to visit family and friends that had bought cabin homes). Crossed small muddy streams with pebbles/unpaved roads, drove up steep...
  13. One Year Review

That’s odd Grainger was the first place I looked and they wanted over $6,500 for a warranty. I got mine for $6,400 flat for the 10 year / 175k warranty. Considering my 1 year and a few month old truck has 22k miles, it’s going to be out of mileage before the years run out! And unfortunately...
  14. One Year Review

Well the battery trick did it…thanks everyone!
  15. One Year Review

This is the first vehicle I bought a factory extended warranty for. My guess, is with the mileage I put (about 18,000 per year) plus the history on it (I’m the original owner) it wouldn’t hurt to have Ford Protect. I will probably run out of mileage before the 10 years is up, but the price...
  16. One Year Review

No idea as I cannot see the screen now. Tried cycling the driver side door, parking for 30 minutes, lock/unlock, the whole screen is blank (but backlight is on). Odd…
  17. One Year Review

Funny I posted this this morning. My APIM just completely failed with no warning. Can’t see anything, can’t tell what climate control is set to, truck doesn’t respond to any audio (source, track change) inputs on the steering wheel or center stack. I do not drive the truck hard. It’s towed...
  18. One Year Review

Thanks for all the help this past year, I’ve had my truck a little over a year and put approximately 18,000 miles in the first year. Truck now has 21,500 on it with the following service: 1. Rebuilt rear end (warranty covered, leaking from the rear seal cover). 2. Rebuilt transmission (after a...
  19. Transmission work needed at 50,000 per Ford dealer

Mine has had its 10R80 rebuilt and shifts perfectly now. The question is, will it blow up at 90,000 miles and out of B2B/powertrain warranty? Good thing I got an extended, but I do NOT want to get stranded especially while camping far away from civilization.
  20. Recommend a DC to DC converter

I like this idea. Forget to turn off a cabin light or other interior light? No problem. Keep the brakes separately powered and I’ll never have to worry.
