Maybe someone can correct me but isn’t it after halfway through the 22 models the updated transmission parts were put in as standard? If that’s the case you should be fine I would hope!
I think the change happened in September '22. Mine was built in June '22 so,,, ⏰️💣
However,,, at 23k I haven't had any issues. It shifts really well since I got it tuned.

Oh boy yeah you are close to the date then. Maybe they started using the new parts before they announced it. Not sure how you could tell though.

I read somewhere that it took until late October to clear out the inventory of old transmissions. I wouldn't want anything built before November of '22.

It was and mine was a late '22 build. IIRC it still has the same valve bodies which will probably fail over time. For me the extended warranty was just another insurance policy if/when something happens. The good thing is if I do sell it sooner it's pro-rated and you get the difference back.

My '19 xlt is going in the shop on December 10th. Almost 39,000 miles, tuned, bolt ons, lowered, but it only started acting up somewhat recently (about 6-8 months ago.

My 2019 has all the potential for a failure. 36K miles is too young to show trouble. None yet.
At 34K I changed the fluid, added Lubegard Platinum and a PPE pan. ...hoping this prevents or delays a failure.
I've wondered about the actual failure rate with the original trannys. This poll helps, but it doesn't reflect mileage or newer 'fixed' transmissions in the population. Ford knows the true failure rate. Maybe it is low enough for Ford to justify the warranty costs while they developed the fix.

Mine was in a couple months after I got it for weird shifting issues during a 3000 mile trip. Of course the dealer couldn’t replicate. I made them check my trans fluid which was a hair over a quart low (from factory?). They freaking charged me $300 instead of eating it on warranty. Stealership at its finest. Had the fluid drained and filled plus filter at 75k. I get occasional weird shifting, but nothing as severe as what others describe.

Guessing my 2019 with 79k is just a time 💣

No…but probably really a ‘not yet’: 2019 w/65K miles. Extremely dirty ATF & filter. Hard shifts, some surging into 4th, low-speed hunting in 7-10 gears. Off-idle stumble when accelerating. Was going to trade it in for a yellow dog, then shoot the dog…but I like dogs too much. Swapped out the DPFE instead; shifts into 4th still bumpy. Time (& miles) will tell…

2020 with 105k on it, never touched the tranny, runs fine.
Based on my previous Ford truck where I changed the fluid three times over the years and it crapped out at 132k anyway, I just think it doesn't make any difference. The trannys are going to break sometime between 100k and 150k regardless.
I have replaced the DPFE sensor but I did that myself.

Yeah, I’m going there
This is to try to get an actual feel for the percentage of forum members who have actually had to have transmission repairs / replacements ( warranty or not) as compared to those who have never had their Ranger in for transmission related issues.
We often read that it’s only a small percentage of owners who have issues resulting in repairs or replacements. Hopefully this sheds some light on that claim. Thanks for participating
Have a 2020 xlt with little over 48,000. No issues yet, that I can tell. Doesn't want to down shift into low enough gear to keep if from feeling like it's " lugging", in town. I usually just use the Down button on the shifter if I feel it's lugging in too high a gear.
