  1. 10R80....Are they all ticking time bombs?

Wanted to swap my 2019 XLT for a new Raptor
but the CFO said “No, not until we can afford that around-the-world cruise” I apparently promised her back in the day. So instead, I decided to buy every aftermarket “bolt on” piece I could find and turn my stock Ranger into the “ultimate...
  2. 10R80....Are they all ticking time bombs?

OTOH, “WE” are undoubtedly the most intelligent, most well informed, objective, patient, thoughtful, creative
and probably best looking
of all Ranger owners😎.
  3. New TSB - Harsh Shifts - Covering (After 8-16-22) 22-23 Rangers Only

Just think: If they had only offered a manual transmission
like most(?) of us wanted
.
  4. Self Help: Air Conditioner Heater Actuator

Great points all; thanks! As an early, original 2019 owner
I’ve tried to follow folks’ experience with this issue since it started to surface. We’d already determined that the internal binding is temperature related, hence the random “on-again/off-again” nature that results as the ‘internals’...
  5. Self Help: Air Conditioner Heater Actuator

My 2019 XLT currently has 66,900 miles. At @ 65K miles, I started to experience the ‘asymmetric’ A/C scenario with cold air blowing out the right side, and extremely hot air coming out the left. It was random and sporadic, and would often heal itself, so I ignored it for a few months. Then...
  6. Transmission Fluid Swap

My 2019’s fluid was coffee-colored with an extremely dirty filter at 65,000 miles. Never towed anything. So, I wonder: Has anyone gone Ford’s whole ‘150,000 miles’ before servicing it
without any issues?
  7. 10R80....Are they all ticking time bombs?

Agree we’re a small subset of Ranger owners. We have learned that some of the transmission “woes” actually ARE the 10R80 eating itself alive. Others are DPFE valve issues masquerading as tranny issues. Either way, one thing I am certain of: There’s no way I’d wait until 150,000 miles before...
  8. Half Ranger

Way cool: Who, where and how much???
  9. Injector ticking: How loud is too loud?

Sounds about like my 2019 w/65K miles. I decided that I’ll start worrying about it when they stop making noise

  10. 10R80 transmission poll.

    No
but probably really a ‘not yet’: 2019 w/65K miles. Extremely dirty ATF & filter. Hard shifts, some surging into 4th, low-speed hunting in 7-10 gears. Off-idle stumble when accelerating. Was going to trade it in for a yellow dog, then shoot the dog
but I like dogs too much. Swapped out the...
  11. Thinking about trading the Ranger

Obviously it’s not a magic cure for all the reported transmission problems, but it sure improved mine’s behavior. It is a pain in the butt to reach the tubing connections; if only the hood opened another inch!
  12. Thinking about trading the Ranger

Thinking about trading it? Every darn day. I paid cash for mine in 2019 and enjoyed being the “only one in town” for quite a while. I always loved the EcoBoost performance and even more so when I installed an MBRP exhaust. Gas mileage was not an “affordability issue” when I bought it, although...
  13. EGR DPFE Sensor Assembly Replacement Write-Up (LB5Z-9J433-B)

You can buy the whole sensor “assembly” with new hoses already attached
much easier
highly recommended.
  14. 1998 versus 2024 Ford ranger

    I have two XLTs: 2004 w/3.0 V-6 & 5 speed, 158K miles, and 2019 FX4 w/65K. If I had to get rid of one today
guess which one I’d keep?
  15. Transmission service issue.

I’m original owner of a 2019 XLT w/65K miles. It’s bone stock except for MBRP exhaust; never had a ‘tune’. Lots of highway mileage; I don’t tow. At 60K miles, started to exhibit what I thought were trans-only related issues: Hard/‘clunky’ shifts, ‘bucking’, especially in higher gears (7-10)...
  16. EGR DPFE Sensor Assembly Replacement Write-Up (LB5Z-9J433-B)

I’m the original owner of a 2019 XLT FX4 with 65,000 miles. It’s bone stock except for an MBRP exhaust. It’s never had a ‘tune’; I don’t tow with it and a lot of the mileage is highway. At @ 60,000 miles, it started to exhibit issues I thought were transmission-only related: Shifts were...
  17. Tire suggestions/opinions

Shedding my stock, well-cared-for, Hankooks on my 2019 XLT this week at 39,000 mile
& a lot of it highway. Developed very strange wear pattern in front
wheel alignment in spec. Switching to Wildpeaks; already have Cooper AT3 on an FJ-40 Land Cruiser.
  18. Coolant in Exhaust

If you’d installed the MBRP dual exhaust instead
there’d be no problem. Just crank the radio up louder & the smell will go away
 away.
  19. Thoroughly po'd

    If it’s dented
better strap in. Cheap, double-walled box
.no access from “inside”
you’re looking at a skin graft. This ding ended up costing north of $6,000..
  20. 2019 Ford Ranger XLT 4x4 Problems

Kinda like having LOTS of gas in your CRV’s 3.7 qt oil pan & them trying to sell you a Cabin Temperature Control unit to fix it. Why? Well, why not?
