What I meant was, you can have a fully warmed up engine and stone cold transmission.

It takes forever to warm up a 10R80 unless you're towing or really beating on it.
Right when they blow up, they are warmed up

I don't think that you will ever reach the 206F-215F target range without stressing the transmission. But I did get to 190F on about 45-50 minutes at idle. It took ~38 minutes at idle to reach 180F.

I will add this tidbit of info. My transmission performs best at =<170F. The sweet spot appears to be from 140F - 160F. Shifts are smooth, and no balkiness. I am going to be adding a nice big transmission cooler, and if necessary even eliminating the warmup heat exchanger.

Temps here in NC are not cold enough to require a quick warm up, and I have never had a problem with the transmission when it is cold. My truck stays in a garage when not running and temps don't go below the mid 50's on even the coldest of days. I want my transmission temps to stay below 170F. If it climbs to the mid 170's F and drops back down <= 170F I'll be a happy camper.

From what I've gathered, that's about where GM runs their 10L's so you may be on to something.

I am researching the best transmission cooler options right now. Anyone have a preference?

Been looking on Ali Express as the prices are better.

Probably why Ford don't want any consumers being able to check the fluid level. Fearing it would never be at their temperature range to get an adequate reading. 🤔

Are you looking on Aliexpress for the specific adapter that goes in place of the transmission mounted cooler to allow use of an air to oil cooler?

For all the different pieces. I have found a source for the transmission adapter, but it seems as bit expensive at $100. I still may go that route, but not before looking at all different suppliers. I've seen pictures of a 3 piece set, and a single piece unit.

The Australians have some high quality cooler kits. Not sure if they fit our Rangers but they are designed for the 10R80. This is going to be a winter project. I'm going to consider my options carefully.

Again, and insights y'all have will be very much appreciated.

Or Ford doesn't want consumers to notice the fluid is 3/4 quart low from the factory.

Being a fairly new Ranger owner, but a long time Ford guy, the biggest concern Ranger owners seem to have is the 10R80 transmission. So to help alleviate this potential problem, I added a deep aluminum transmission pan (with a drain plug) and Mike's MBS dipstick so I can keep the level where it belongs and change the fluid easily. I couldn't have more nice things to say about Mike's dipsticks. Extremely well built and fits perfectly. The custom (3D printed) funnel is a great addition that I got to try as soon as I installed the dipstick, since my fluid level was a bit low after changing the pan and filter.
