Right on schedule at 31000 miles my transmission is hard shifting when the truck has been sitting for more than 4 or 5 hours. Mostly when cold but at other times as well. It actually started last winter but not every time the truck had been sitting overnight. Made an appointment with my dealer today can't get it in till Nov 11.

Print a copy of the latest TSB to have with you when you go...just in case your dealer tries to play ignorant.

If they charge you a diagnostic fee, make sure that it is documented that they performed the test procedure detailed in the TSB.

The first dealer who charged me a $200 diagnostic fee apparently just drove it around the block and said all was good, despite me providing the TSB.

2500 miles later, I took it to a different dealer who actually did the test.

It needed a full transmission rebuild with new valve body and torque converter.

$50 deductible on my ESP and it runs great now.

do a hard battery reset first, it is free and lets the transmission relearn the shifting points

I dropped mine off at the dealer this morning for trans shifting issues. We'll see what they say, and find out what they do/did to diagnose it. Sadily the TSB was released after I was well past 36k miles that allowed them to just replace the whole transmission, so I didn't bother with rushing it in. I figure as long as I can drive it I'll drive it until closer to the powertrain warranty end, that way if the repair only last x miles, at least I'm starting that clock from a higher number. I'm over 55k now and with <5k left on the factory powertrain warranty we'll see how it goes.

Supposed to last 75k before complete swap is required. When I hit 150k its manual time or scrap yard

Well, when I picked it up last week they didn't find anything wrong. Tech said there were no codes. I mentioned that that is not how I read the TSB, it stated that in addition to customer concerns the codes "may be present". They said they would have to get it back in to do the pressure testing. Yesterday I got called and they said that they can't do rebuilds there and Ford will not authorize a replacement, so I'll have to take it to a dealer at least 10x further away from the local dealer to have it even looked at.
