Yes but...to get the correct reading involves getting tranny up to temp which mean driving...without starting with correct fluid level?
Being low by 1 quart before getting to operating temperature will be better than having it 1 quart overfilled

There's a method to cold check. That's what I used before the MBS. I'm not sacrificing all that arm skin with the stupid cat being there.

I skimmed the drain and fill procedure PDF recently. I could be absolutely wrong, but doesn’t it specify an initial amount? If so, we could just confirm with PPE that its volume is 3/4 qt greater and then add that amount to the initial amount specified by fords plastic pan. At least, that makes sense to me and I could be totally wrong.

Honestly it's an argument for the MBS dipstick and part of the criticism of Ford's lack of foresight for owner maintenance. I couldn't even get the dealer to check the transmission fluid levels before I got my extended dipstick and had them change the fluid/filter.

I got both trans pans and comparing them. The Mishimoto pan is very nice and as you can see it’s a deep pan..
‘The PPE pan is not the deep one but between the two I like it better. It’s a lot heavier thicker

and the drain plug is larger. what do you think? I’m going to weigh them to find out the difference.
Just noticed the Mishimoto wont fully drain. The bung is raised. That alone would push me to PPE

I think that's just the plug you're looking at. The plugs are shiny and stick up into the pan.

Definitely curious which one’s lighter and by how much. Let us know when you find out! I’m going to be swapping mine out soon and weight is a bigger concern for me. I’ve already added enough weight to take away 1” from my 3.5” lift lol

For sure...one extra pound on my truck's gonna bust my MPG lol...
Don't forget the extra stress placed on the suspension, frame, and extra distance needed for stopping cause of the extra weight. Probably lead to early brake failure, or at the very least, new brake pads much sooner than normal.
Also additional wear n tare on the engine/trans having to compensate for the added weight.

This got me curious so I dug out my brand new in the box Mishimoto pan that I bought back when they were on sale.

It's the magnet on the drain plug. The pan will drain fully.

It's one more thing in my pile of parts to be installed this spring.

And dang, this is a solid piece. I'm impressed.

Anyway, here are some pics.

Edit: If anybody wants any more detailed pics of the Mishimoto let me know before I box it back up.

Exactly… I’m not concerned with MPG. I’m more worried about whether or not I need to have my transmission regeared and beef up the suspension a bit. With my job, I basically live out of my truck for a week every month. I probably carry a bit more in the bed than most people. Plus the added weight of the grille guard, winch, bed rack, toolboxes in the bed, radio setup… If gas mileage was a worry, I would’ve bought a hybrid lol

My post was ment in jest as to worrying about the additional weight of the pan over the OE pan.
I can't see that the addition of 5 lbs of extra weight would affect the longevity of the Ranger.

But it's down low so your cornering will be enhanced by the lower center of gravity. ?
