my budget camping tent trailer build

I used to have my root top tent on my truck with a bed rack but quickly realized this was not gonna work with the camping my family wants to do. Also being able to leave camp and go explore was not possible as the tent takes a bit pack up and unpack. so enter the following.

military auction trailer. custom no weld rack systems, an OVS 3 stage slide out for a kitchen. getting close to phase 1 done. still need to figure out the hitch, and the lighting. debating to ripping the 24volt systems and wiring up a cheap harbor freight led light set

this is a pretty big trailer by standards. most ppl use small utility trailers but this thing is rated to haul 3000 lbs and already has shock suspension and not leaf with great clearance

All you need to change the lights over to a 12 volt system is a new plug. Those military lights are 12-24 volt LEDs. Some of the current Army vehicles have 12 volt lights while most are 24 volts the LEDs make it easier on the supply system. I am sure about this because after I retired from the Army 21 years ago I became a civilian mechanic for the Army and work on these things every day. I can probably get you the manual for your trailer if you need it. Looks like a nice project.

might take you up on that. I am not great when it comes to electrical stuff. you just model # of the trailer?

I was gonna rip it out but if I can just rewire the plug then I will just leave it

use to have a m100 overland trailer but sold it since i couldnt take it and bikes with me but this is sick! what trailer model is this one?

Also I used these rims: Rough Country Daytona Steel Wheel Black (16x8 / 8x6.5 / 8x165.1) - RC51-6881 to get rid of the split rims and rather large 37". These fit over the stock surge brakes. Tires are Atturo Trail Blade A/T in 225LT75/16s. Close to the stock load raiting and are cheap tires that can handle some offroad situations
