I get over 22 mpg local, a little better on trips. Stock Lariat with no changes and that seems to be the norm if you leave it as it comes from the factory.

My stock XLT 4X4 gets 24+ mpg....as near as I can tell. Normal 212 mi round trip to the river house is always hilly and often windy. 18 mpg with a head wind, 30 with a tail wind. On zero wind days it often creeps to 25 mph. I keep the tires at 40 psi.

Why is the gas mileage so bad i am getting 14mpg but i do have a 3inch lift and 33inch tires but I was getting 15mpg before the tires and lift and yes i drive easy i replaced the airlifter oil and sparkplugs any other reason why my gas mileage is so bad? (I have tried every bottle of gas injector cleaner)

I had the same experience running 33s/lift. I’m now running 35s on a 3” lift and I’m getting 18.3MPG after tuning with HP Tuner but with simply adjusting for larger tire size through Forscan, I was getting 17mpg. That’s the first thing I’d do and if tuning isn’t an option then slow down to 70-75mpg ?

Since it was mentioned- just wanted to highlight- The 5g Ranger does not use a MAF Sensor, it only has a MAPT Sensor, Map sensor + incorporated temp.
MPG appears to vary between members quite a bit - the on-board calculation is not accurate as it is running when you are simply idling, so winter blend plus more idle time the MPG tanks.
But for me my average is 20 , mostly city and back country roads. I have not had it on a long trip (highway) yet to really get a good highway (MPG)

To OP, did you recalibrate your speedo after the lift? What tires specifically are you running?

I too noticed a drop in MPG's a few times. First when i went to standard load 265/70/17 duratracs. I dropped 1-2 mpgs, even more so when i moved to New Mexico (specifically Albuquerque which is flatter) from Washington and was averaging about 20-21 mpgs. When i moved to Santa Fe (higher elevation, more hills), my average was about 19-20. Now that i've jumped to 275/70/17 KO3s in an E-Load, my average is holding about 18 mpg. I don't do great on freeways around here due to all the hills, and the 80 mph speeds I hold. If i take state highways and such, my economy holds around 20 as the speeds are more 60-65.

I do have the Ford tune which seems to help a bit, also just threw in an intercooler which with this rather cold air isn't doing shit for me right now. Spark plugs were changed last year around 50k, which really perked the engine back up.

A lot depends on your right foot! I have a 19 Lariat Unleashed tuned, 93 octane. 2" lift, stock tires with 1" wheel spacers. I get 19.5 in the winter and 22-ish in the summer.

I wish I got near 22 mpg, my 2019 is all stock and the best I usually get is 19, unless I'm all highway. I try watching it, I even keep the screen of my ranger on the real time gas estimate haha I'm in Colorado though so might make a difference.

I think elevation is huge on fuel economy, less oxygen means less of the good stuff for a full burn means our turbos are working more than they probably need to be... general rule of thumb says you lose 3% power for every 1000 feet of elevation... i'm at about 7000 feet, so i'm down a good 21%... thats never good for fuel economy especially when trying to push larger tires and a leveled truck.

OP I empathize with you. My '21 has been averaging about 16mpg on the interstate. I've got a 20-mile commute, +/- 1200ft of elevation.
With a 3.5in lift and 265/70r17 tires, a nasty headwind uphill, and a 75mph speed limit (I'll typically cruise about 80mph) it shreds my MPGs. From what I've seen of Cali, I would imagine your terrain is much the same.

I have kept a record since I bought my 2020 XLT .. 51,000 miles, overall MPG - 22.2

I get 23 mpg consistently and I live at 5650'. I have a bed topper on my FX4 XLT and I drive back country roads, highway and Forest Service roads. The gas mileage doesn't change no matter where I drive.

Aerodynamics, weight and rolling resistance...you, I and others who've trade "Stance" for efficiency, killed the factory MPG...the best I get is 18 mpg...normally 17 ish...

Please Check or have checked your mass air flow sensor.
I had an S-10 4x4 (P.O.S.) getting 12mpg in town & on the road. Took it to 4 different dealers in NC&GA. They all said "ain't nuttin' wrong with yore S-10 'Boyh' ".

Went to Auto Zone, bought a MAF sensor and told them what I was doing & once I tested the new MAF, I'll return it. OK by them. Mileage went to 21-22 mpg. Took it to Jacksonville, NC Dealer right outside the front gates of Camp LeJeune.
They found a vacuum check valve was bad on the front diff. and allowed gear oil to get sucked into the vacuum system and fouled up everything including the MAF. The whole system was covered with gear oil residue.
They fixed everything for truck was still under warranty. Otherwise, Chevy does a miserable job on everything.

Might be the sensor?
