The new rangers have a cover/insulator over the high pressure fuel pump.

Darn it! Ugh, I thought I had gotten all the deleted stuff. Sheesh, so I've ordered this now ...

I don't consider the cover a deleted item. It's offered in a redesigned Ranger for 2024.

But it makes me think that the cover could have had an opportunity to be in the Ranger as far back as 2021.

Below is a picture of a 2021 Ford Bronco with a 2.3L. Notice what is covering the fuel pump?

Here's a thread that mentions it.

Thanks for the info and pic. I guess I'll see what it does on the '22, probably the slit suggestion for the fuel line. Maybe this is a cheaper offering to the mice gods than the engine cover! =D

I'll be damned, that looks like plastic instead of that foam mouse food crap, maybe that's on the inside where they'll make the nest? ?

Looks to be of better build quality than I figured it would be, that's a plus. In for the pics from the early adopters. I'm waiting on my alternator shield.

Mine is due to be delivered tomorrow, be next week before I can dive into the install.
The reason for the response for will not fit, comes from it was not a part that was installed (under the VIN#)
I got the same reply when I ordered my TM switch.

I will take some pics and provide fitment info when I get it. I do not see any reason it will NOT fit.
But will confirm when part is in hand.

To be honest I'm waiting for the mounting bolts part #'s as I will order all at once.

I did just that.

Only the cover arrived because not everything was in stock.

MB3Z6A957B Special stud

Just so you know, it doesn't use the same type of studs as the engine cover. It uses the type where you push down and it snaps in place.

The engine cover has one. I pointed where it snaps to on the engine. (See pics)

The last picture shows two places on the fuel pump cover where the special stud snaps to. I'm pointing to one.

If you cut it at separate for svc, you are taking away one of its functions - Cover the #4 COP.
You will need to disconnect the most fwd fuel line, it takes a disconnect tool and the pressure has to be relieved before that disconnect.

The only other way is to cut at the (Svc Line) to get under the fuel line. I do not plan on cutting it and will disconnect the fuel line.

The odd thing is: 2024 Svc Manual

1. HP Pump Replacement - Cut the Cover
2. #4 Coil - Disconnect the Fuel Line & Remove the Cover without cutting it.

Does that not make you go WTH? Who the Heck - Wrote These Directions? - Clearly 2 separate writers and proofreaders are in play.
