Drove back from short camping trip in Cherokee National Forest. Drove up early Saturday morning, got camp set up, and fly fished a great little river for a couple hours. Amazing fall afternoon with our first crisp temps of the season. Caught 9 brookies and one nice rainbow on a size 14 Caddis. The trout were really on the feed.

Some friends met me up there for the evening and we had a fire and brews. Got in a small hike after a morning fire and breakfast.

Fall colors are popping in the Smokies.

First time pulling a trailer - my custom setup for hauling 2 Sunfish type sailboats. It’s not that heavy of a trailer, so the Ranger hardly knew it was there. A bit chilly 55°F and super windy here today in Michigan, but I figured this was my last chance for a sail this year.

I look at that and want to have it on my compost pile :like:
I take it to the town's grass dump and it becomes someone else's compost. ?

Just got home after a weekend trip to upstate NY. Friday evening travel up, stayed at a lakehouse on Hunter Mountain. Saturday we participated in our second NORA (North East Off-Road Adventures) Hunter Mountain fall foliage off-road tour. It rained like crazy... so much that Hunter Mountain Management shut the tour down half way through. In their defense, we basically spent 2 hours driving through rushing (and rising) water. The rain was insane. Our tour guide said he'd never seen this kind of water on the mountain before. Never tried video uploads before... but here we go.

Even though they called it early, I wouldn't have traded it for anything. Such a cool experience. First time in the 10 years NORA has been operating that they've had to cancel mid tour due to weather... that's saying something!!!

Truck performed without issues, and it was so wet, the truck didnt even look like it had been in the mud for 2 hours.

If anyone knows Hunter Mountain, and the beautiful waterfall you pass on the way in, check it out in those conditions. Never seen it like this before!

We wrapped today taking my son to Legoland in Goshen for their Brick-or-Treat event. It was packed and I'd never choose to end a trip that way again ?. My son had fun though.

Now time to rest before unloading my truck in the morning.

Washed the Ranger and refreshed the black plastic trim yesterday. Time for some "truck stuff" today. Quick Home Depot trip for 2x 12' 2x4s and some bags of gravel for a garden project.

I know that’s a small, light load, but if you do this a lot, you might consider something like this to avoid crushing your tailgate. Not the spoiler, but the crossbar.

The nerd in me saw that spoiler and wants to see the simulations that show that it actually does something... ?

stayed in Damascus, VA and rode the creeper trail. Highly recommend it. 34 miles of rails to trails and can shuttle to the top if you're so inclined. Stayed at a cottage that is 10 ft off the trail. if you are into cycling ride the 17 miles to the top, have your significant other shuttle to the top, then coast down.

Beautiful area around Damascus. AT runs through there as well.
