So far, Ford has provided me the map updates for free.

Hoping I can get this one free as well.

I honestly never use the built in navigation but I still want to keep it up to date, just in case.

I'm odd but I prefer the built in nav to other alternatives. Googles constant need to reroute me and change my route without my knowledge because it thinks another way is quicker at that time realy grinds my gears. I typically have a plan for fuel stops, hotels and attractions along the route and when it changes it I'm not happy. Hence my love of the "dumb" factory nav. *I'll get off my soap box now* lol

I used to rely on the built in navigation until I found that I couldn't find a few places on the map search menu. I'd submit the address and it wouldn't come up with any results. Switched to using google maps now that I have a sturdy phone mount on my dash. I just don't like how my phone tells me I've been on my phone for "x" amount of minutes while driving.
I'm just trying to not get lost, man.

Wonder if there will be any new details to the update. I like the 3D map when I do use the navigation.

Strange. I have never had problems with the built in finding things...yet... I've had Google give me some garbage directions and not be able to find things.

It is extremely useful if you find yourself out of cell range

I updated my nav map last year, and it directed me to an obsolete store address that was 3 years outdated -- the lot was actually just a flat unused field now.
I found the new location via Google maps, and asked the store when they moved. It was 3 years ago!
So my map update from last year, didn't include a move from 3 years ago? Uh...where is Ford sourcing their data from?
So I don't trust the nav map, even though I do like using it.

I've used the factory Nav a couple of times, the only time it was helpful was when I was out of Cell Service and the normal backroad route I always took was closed due to construction. Every other time it has just been much more difficult than google/apple maps which I use 99% of the time. With carplay, turn-by-turn seems to be better and knowing the correct lane is easier. An interesting quirk about sync is knowing how close you actually are to the turn, the sync's little bar that gets shorter as you get closer is such a weird way of communicating that info. Google/Apple's way is to just show you getting closer and zooming in on the intersection as you approach it with you in the frame.

At the end of the day I will still use Google/Apple maps for my daily life, but the factory nav is a nice bit of insurance if I get into trouble out in the boonies.

I wonder if those are the maps that are in with the 3.4.23088 update from Cyanlabs. The map date/version is newer after the 23088 update I did. 15gb of "stuff".

yes, the ford map data takes a very long time to update. I use it only as a backup to find my way out if I'm in the boonies and nothing else is working.

Most use Navteq. Not sure about Ford. And yes it is usually several years old.

Apple maps took me to an empty parking lot 10 miles from Sarasota National Cemetery recently. I don’t think any of them are 100%.

I had fits with Google when I was in Louisiana in 20. 3 times it took me nowhere near my hotel. They all have their issues

We didn't opt for navigation when we ordered our Ranger because we have a Garmin GPS that we mount in the dash tray using drafting weighs to hold it pretty solid. After reading all your issues, I'm glad we didn't get navigation.

Retired, work is a four letter word.
I was supposed to meet a friend at a river in Montana for a few days of drift fishing, but Google got me to a one lane road in the middle of nowhere and said "You have arrived' NOT! Rebooted my device and it took me another 14 miles to get there.
