I've had my replacement boot I ordered for awhile now... haven't tried installing yet since the original boot still looks ok at almost 9,000 miles and truck will be 2 years old end of this month.

I did pick up a tube of Gorilla Glue Clear the other day. Reading the instructions where it says bonds instantly. I remember watching the video one of the forum members made of his boot replacement. Question, if this Gorilla Glue bonds instantly, asking those who have used it... were you able to move the replacement boot around to align on the plastic retainer once glue is applied?
I used contact cement. It gave me just a little bit of play before it set up.

Using a glue that instantly bonds will be ... tricky. Getting everything lined up is pretty fiddly, and takes a fair bit of repositioning. I would recommend an adhesive which has a bit more open or working time. In the video I posted, I used E6000 glue. Here's a link to the video, so you can see the process:

I used gorilla glue and you can reposition it. Not an instant bond in that aspect.

It didn’t bond so fast that I couldn’t readjust

I don't have the tube with me at work, but I remember looking at the front of the packaging and it says something to the effect "compare to E6000". Just looked at my purchase history where I bought it and the item is:
Gorilla Clear Grip Contact Adhesive (8040002) Glue

So I should be ok using it?

Just looked up the info on that glue. The instructions are to apply it to both sides of the joint, wait 3 minutes, then press the 2 sides together... much like a contact cement. This will work just fine, as long as you are able to precisely position the leather boot *before* you put any glue on either side of the joint. In my video I was able to mostly do this, but there was still some adjustment needed as I worked through the glue-up process.

E6000, on the other hand, can be put onto just one side of the joint, then pressed together. You'll have something like 15-20 minutes of open working time to reposition things exactly as you need, then let it sit overnight to fully cure. This just allows for being able to adjust/correct the boot position around the plastic frame so that it is perfect... essentially it allows you to be less careful and course-correct as you do the glue up.

TL; DR: The Gorilla Glue you mention will work fine, but you have to be careful with it. E6000 is more forgiving, and available at WalMart for around $5-6. If I was doing this project again, that's what I'd use.

Thanks, sounds like it is worth looking for the E6000! I'm sure I'm going to need the extra time to get the boot positioned just right.

How important is it to get it "just right"? I mean it's a boot that has slack and doesn't have a specific shape in either direction.

Just put in my order today. Mine was replaced under warranty already last year and now small rip under the handle has appeared. Not going to bother with another warranty replacement (although that is totally stupid that we have to purchase a quality product on our own dime to replace something that is under warranty because the OEM product sucks).
And yes if you go to the redline website and enter your email when they ask you right at the start-they will send a email with a 20% discount code. And if you wait a bit longer with it in your shopping cart they may send an additional 5% off on top of that - that’s what happened to me as an unintentional thing. So not bad.

Not sure how they make money on this. It is a steal of a deal. I guess the materials and labour is quite low for reasonable mark up to make income. But I ain’t complaining - it’s nice to see companies trying to make a reasonable profit without price gouging. It’s good company relations for sure.

Yes. Most definitely will. I went with regular post so it might take a while -I was too cheap to get the quick delivery so it will be quite a few weeks away. But got the e6000 glue another member suggested- already to go just need the boot!

wife noticed my oem parking brake boot cracking a bit ago. decided to order the redline goods one. I got the slow shipping and it arrived recently. I will probably pull my old one and fit the new one to the frame this afternoon so the glue can set overnight.

I certainly appreciate when a cheap OEM part has better aftermarket replacements available, even if I've gotta pay for 'em. wife's jeep liberty had this issue with the power window mechanism. an important wear part inside the door was plastic, and that plastic would disintegrate after awhile. but some dude on ebay made powder coated steel replacements, which we found after jeep's oem replacement part failed in a few months.

*5/15 update:

Installed my fresh parking brake boot today. the replacement one from redline was just a tiny shade loose on the plastic frame. I have a little bunching in one spot on the frame where I had to take up a little slack, but that's hidden now that everything is snapped back into place.

I used E6000 and clips as recommended in the recent vid and it went on easily enough. just had to fiddle a little to line it up before setting it aside to dry.

Update - got the boot way earlier than expected - by several weeks. I guess Poland post is better than Canada post for speediness. ?
On my 21 - ford decided to use staples to attach the boot on so it took a little bit more prying to get it off.

Overall the boot is pretty good. Took a little more effort than expected to stretch the leather and glue it. My only concern was on the single seam side at the bottom -it stretched a little more than I expected and was concerned the thread would give away in the future. So I added a bit more e6000 and glued it to the top edge of the frame (the horizontal part) to keep the seam splitting in the future. Never used e6000 but this stuff is pretty tough. Not sure if the picture is clear enough to show the gap.

But at the end it turned out pretty good. I am happy with it. It was a worthwhile purchase.

Now I have to go and attach my knock off raptor grill still.
