Yesterday, I used the new truck to move a load of cinder blocks and 40 lb. bags of bird seed to my oldest daughter’s home. Today, I’m remembering that I’m old, and that the 1st cinder block that I loaded on the truck was a lot lighter than the last one that I carried into her back yard. On the good side, the truck didn’t seem to care that I had 35 cinder blocks in the bed.

I’m using the preceding to justify (rationalize) why I didn’t install the Westin Truck Pal and the AVS Aeroskin II that arrived in yesterday’s mail…Tomorrow.

Same as the, “What did you receive in the mail…” thread. Quick 5 minute or so swap of my GFB DV for the TS Dual Port BOV.

What does that actually DO for you? What's its purpose?

why did you switch? (if I understand correctly, its one aftermarket for another. Not OE for aftermarket.)
Yes, and no, and yes. The GFB DV+ replaces the bottom part of the stock valve, cheap plastic for plastic, but with a better working piston setup. So, you still retain the stock upper part of the assembly, where the electrical connection is made. "They" say the benefit of the DV+ is better holding of boost and smoother operation.

The Turbosmart comes in two flavors. One that is completely recirculation, like the stock setup. This one does basically the same thing as the DV+, but replaces the entire valve with an aluminum housing. The dual port simply vents 50%'ish of the air that would be recirculated to atmosphere. I don't know that there is any real performance benefit to that happening, just a noise. Probably not since I made @Doc sad.

It's so easy to change back, if I decide I don't like it. So, no big deal to me.

What does that actually DO for you? What's its purpose?
Allows me to spend money that I would probably otherwise give to the ex-wife in one form or another.

I installed the wiring harness for my CTEK battery charger. It is a quick disconnect which allows me to hook my battery up and keep it conditioned and charged. Since I retired, I have found with modern charging logic in the trucks, together with my mostly short trips (with only the occasional road trip), batteries last longer when I use this this charger pretty religiously. It only takes a second to hook it up with the harness already installed.

I also installed a cheapo Gator SFX soft tonneau. I had one on my last truck and thought it was the deal of the century. Super easy to install, keeps things dry, super easy to remove when I need the whole bed.

Changed the transfer case lube. Based on past experience with my other trucks, as expected it looked like tar at 30,000 miles. Replaced with Redline D6 ATF which meets the Ford Spec in the manual. You need a 3/8” hex key on the plugs, not a 3/8” drive, and a cheater pipe to get the plugs out. Fill and drain plugs are different as only the drain plug has a magnet so don’t mix them up.
In case anyone cares....based on experience with my old Sport Trac, the t-case and rear axle drained out black at 30k and 60k. By 90k they were pretty clean so I let it go until 150k when they drained out still clean, same at 200k.
(On those and older Rangers it's basically impossible to do the front axle yourself so I had the Valvoline Quicky Lube do it with their machine every 50k.)
My recommendation and what I will do with the Ranger is change the axles and t-case at 30k, 60k, and 100k and every 50k after that unless I win the lottery and buy a new one.

Installing some gas struts on my roof cases. @DukeCanBuildit these are the same cases you have

Hey Jack,

I still haven’t installed my gas struts yet - I have them but I’m still brainstorming the installation. I’d be interested in knowing if you built up the thin walls of the cases, and how. Also, since you’ve done the math and have likely gone through the trial and error I’d like to avoid, I wouldn’t mind knowing what length struts those are and the location of the mounts.

Added a passenger side swing case to store my drop hitch etc.,and snatch strap, and other misc. items.
‘Also swapped out my factory speakers for some Infinty’s,and while the door panels were off, laid in some sound deadening.Really cleaned up the sound, and now my doors don’t sound like cheap tin cans lol.

I was messing around in the DIY section last week and saw a post by "quangdog" dated back in 2020 where he did a nice DIY video. He and some of you made it look sooo easy that I just had to get a pair of these cheap LED puddle lamps from Amazon for myself. They arrived today so I snapped them on . Took all of 10 minutes.
Peer pressure is strong around here. You guys need to stop it! LOL

Can you provide a link or the make and model of the lights? Looks very nice.

I haven't got a clue what this sentence means ?

The forum needs a glossary.

GFB?
DV?
TS?
BOV?

Its blow off valve lingo BOV (unless you have a bigger turbo, you don’t need a Blow off valve)

GFB -Go fast Bits
DV-diverter valve
TS - Turbo Smart
BOV - blow off valve

Picked up a 4.5’ awning from Overland Vehicle Systems to mount on the rear of the truck. Now the tailgate area has shade when out camping. Also added a flagpole mount to the non-opening tent side of the truck.

Message Benny, @LevittownFordParts.com. He can let you know what shipping is to Canada, as well as if they can do any discount codes for the product or shipping. I believe I saw someone asking about over seas shipping and he couldn't do anything as far as price goes there. But, since you're at least on the same continent, it doesn't hurt to ask.

Adding a picture, after installing the Icon leaf springs. It measures 40" ground to fender in the front and 41" ground to fender in the rear. Slight rake, which I don't mind.

Took the wife out in the truck for the first time since the install and she said "it feels a lot smoother". I will take that as a win.
I am going to be doing the ford tremor springs as they are multi leaf vs single on non tremors. Can this be done in the garage with basic hand tools?
