They are incorrect that it affects the warranty. Ford's website says it includes a 3/36 warranty from new, does not mention the extended warranty.

I know, I told them this, but they insisted that they were correct. They wanted $150/hr to install an air filter and the tune and said it would take 3-4 hours to install... We absolutely hate our local dealer! I skipped it and went with Torrie's tune and an SCT BDX.

I'd send an email complaint to Ford Customer Service.

For real. Yesterday was the first time I didn't us 93 oct. It was $4.18, while 87 was $3.28. $.90 difference between 87 and 93 at Texaco.
I gotta friend makes some good shine Jason. Bout 120 proof. That's gotta be better than 93 oct right? Get a couple more smiles to the gallon?

So, you won't install the Ford ProCal yourself because of warranty issues, but you will install a 3rd party tune? How to you think Ford feels about 3rd party tunes and warranties and Ford ESP?

Hey Dan,

There are a bunch of threads on the topic around here. The Ford tune gives you an additional Ford performance warranty and will not void your standard warranty unless Ford proves the Ford Performance tune caused the issue. The Ford Power Pack comes with the Livernois MyCal tuner, voucher for the tune, and the K&N filter.

Here’s a few threads to start:
https://www.ranger5g.com/forum/threads/ford-performance-tune.8866/

https://www.ranger5g.com/forum/threads/livernois-vs-ford-performance-tune.12002/

https://www.ranger5g.com/forum/thre...s-motorsports-vs-unleashed-tuning.6819/page-1

And here’s some better pricing:

https://www.stage3motorsports.com/m...-ford-performance-power-pack-calibration.html

https://www.levittownfordparts.com/sku/m-9603-reb.html
Notice, the Ford Power Pack delivers your tune via the LIVERNOIS "mycalibrator" tuner module. Do yourself a favor, buy the Livernois tune package for the Ranger and buy your own K&N filter.

https://www.livernoismotorsports.co...019-2022-ford-ranger-mycalibrator-touch-tuner

https://www.knfilters.com/ford/ranger/2.3l-l4-gas/2021/

You'll save about $200 and have much better power than the Ford tune......IMHO
No warranty but I've run my Ranger hard for 50K with the Livernois tune and she purrs like a kitty...lol.

You'll have much better control over tuning your truck...you get 5 tunes vs 1 with the Ford package.....including a REAL tow tune that has been vetted for several years. Do a little research....I truly believe the Livernois tune package is very safe for our Rangers.....

No, at the time, I had the ESP and I was under the impression that Ford would let you install things yourself and not having to go through Ford/ASE... I cancelled the ESP and decided to use Unleashed's tune over the FPP.

I void warranties, LOL! I've had it for almost 6 months and haven't hit 1500 miles yet! As one of the most famous members here, @Doc said, "Do what you want to do to your truck now and worry about other things later!" :)

I did what I wanted to do to it and I drive it every day!

But, back to this topic, I was just letting the OP know the differences between dealers. I've seen some on here let the customer install them and others are jerks, like mine.

I thought Ford had to install the performance package, including the tune to get the powertrain warranty?

They do, but I was told by several people that you could do it yourself, which is and isn't correct. My warranty years will run out way before my warranty miles get here, so I wasn't too worried about it, after I did tons of research...

I suspect that performance tunes will be all about gas mileage soon when gas hits $6.00.

I'll be parking my Ranger soon....if gas goes up like rumored. When we hit $4/gallon I will start commuting with the wife in my Kona. I guess some folks get a gas mileage boost as a result of running a tune. I find that interesting considering most of us that do have a performance tune installed do it because we love the performance. So I can tell you right now, if you put your foot in your tuned Ranger you will not get good gas mileage. I took a spirited drive down to Colorado Springs this weekend....it's a couple of hours south of me...interstate all the way. I believe I had an average mileage reading around 17.4 mpg......pretty low. That is typical for my Ranger.....BUT....I don't have fuel in my oil..... :turkey: ;)
