Looks like it kind of does the same thing for power-? I'm wondering what the difference between the two is.

I’m fairly certain that the product name from ford is called the power pack, which includes the tune and a K&N air filter. I haven’t seen it for sale as just the tune, but yes they are the same thing.

It’s a Ford product that bump your power but it requires you to run 91 octane (highest you can find on California) and is a bit pricey, at $850 or so. I’m just wondering if the other tunes out there would effect your warranty.

Hey Dan,

There are a bunch of threads on the topic around here. The Ford tune gives you an additional Ford performance warranty and will not void your standard warranty unless Ford proves the Ford Performance tune caused the issue. The Ford Power Pack comes with the Livernois MyCal tuner, voucher for the tune, and the K&N filter.

Here’s a few threads to start:

And here’s some better pricing:

The search is finicky. Hope those links point you in the right direction.

There’s another one somewhere that talks about reliability of tuning that is an entertaining read. In my mind, the gist of it is if you want something conservative go for the Ford Performance Tune. Otherwise stick to reputable companies Unleashed, Livernois, 5 Star. These will net bigger gains than the Ford tune but lose some of the peace of mind that comes from the Ford tune.

I think the aftermarket companies offer 87 tunes so you wont be stuck buying premium. 5 Star offers a warranty through Stage3Motorsports if you’re worried about that.

Let us know which tune you end up with

The Ford Power Pack is a tune and comes with a K&N air filter. It does not void your warranty like some tunes do as long as it is installed by a Ford dealer or ASI-certified technician. Levittown Ford Parts has a better price, around $650. Personally I don't need more power if it costs that much up front and another 70 cents a gallon every time I fill up, and that price is going up on an almost daily basis.

For real. Yesterday was the first time I didn't us 93 oct. It was $4.18, while 87 was $3.28. $.90 difference between 87 and 93 at Texaco.

According to my dealer, if they install the Ford Performance Pack, it'll knock you warranty down or remove it all together.... Even though Stage 3 replied this answer, to this question 2 years ago:

Does the ProCal 4 tool have the tuning already loaded? I've seen other sites that sell this unit without the tune, you must get the tune from ford. Do I have to have ford or a certified technician install this to get the 36000 mile warranty? I'm capable of installing myself, but curious if I void the warranty. Thank you

It's our understanding that the device does not come out of the box with a tune. You will need to use the include voucher with Ford online to get the tuning once you register on Ford Performance's site. In theory, there's no reason why you can't do this install yourself. Ford's instructions are here. As for your Warranty, Ford Performance states this calibration won't effect your powertrain or bumper-to-bumper warranties. However, all warranty decisions are up to individual service centers, and your best bet would be to talk to your service advisor directly.

My parts/service dept. at my local dealer said I could not install this myself and if they installed it, at say, 10k miles on the truck, you only got partial warranty to 36k miles. If you have an extended warranty, this nulled it?

I've read things on here that some dealers don't care and some dealers are assholes about "performance" upgrades/warranty issues.

I for one, bought an SCT BDX Programmer and got Torrie @ Unleashed Tuning to program my '21. I believe the SCT box has more features than the FPP one?

My commute is 20 miles each way plus I drive a fair bit for work (employer pays me mileage) and I burn at least a tank a week and sometimes more. I run either 89, mpg is better than 87 so it's a wash, or E15 88 which is about 20 cents less than 87.

Your service department is correct that you cannot install it yourself and keep the warranty, they are incorrect that it affects the warranty. Ford's website says it includes a 3/36 warranty from new, does not mention the extended warranty.
