I hadn't even thought about "Customer order" vs. "Dealer order" until I read it here. In a way it makes sense, I guess.

It's kinda funny how things have changed. I didn't even know there was such a thing as "pre-trade" (which I did) until this month.
I went to my dealer and put a deposit down on the ranger that is coming in. At the time, they had told me it would be in "by the end of the month (this month)." So, we did all the financing credit checks, got a credit offer and valued my trade. Now, the tracking shows estimated arrival date of 10/18. I asked them if they could do something on the price of the truck to make up for all the additional miles and lost value on my trade. They assured me that my trade value would not change.

My truck is now in Georgia, so I'm hoping it will actually be here by the end of the month. Fingers are crossed, but breath is not being held.

That's good.

They assured me that the pricing on my trade would Not be the same! Too many fluxuations in the market was their reasoning. Kinda had me over a barrel. They knew it, too. Made it very clear MSRP or gtfo. Sellers market on new trucks for sure. Taking chances.

This is one of those small family owned dealerships that still remembers how to do good business. Their prices are generally a few thousand lower than other dealers. I have to drive an hour to get to them, but if all goes well with this transaction (I know several people that have bought from them and have nothing but good things to say, so I have no reason to doubt that it won't go well) I will definitely buy from them again in the future and recommend them to everyone.

That's a great dealer!

What's funny (not really) is that same day we bought my wifes (on the lot) 2021 XLT Explorer. 42K+ you'd think a little more lee-way might go into effect. But no. I just hope it doesn't fall off the train. If it does they write me a check for the trade amount and send me on my way.

If this is a Dealer order, not a "retail" customer order....I believe it gets shoved back as Customer Orders take priority. I have one on order as well. Have the VIN# but no window sticker or build date yet. Lets hope they get these built ASAP before; Bronco production ramps back up and....the end of the 2021 MY builds. I have waited 14 months and still no Bronco (probably won't see it till this time in 2022).....ordered the Ranger Tremor on 8-18. This waiting sucks.
Good news.

Truck got checked out of "In Production" today!

Built - 9/23

Shipped - Est. 4 days

Delivery - 10/3 (still)

Actually a little shocked. Fingers crossed.

Bad news for those waiting on Lariats. They pushed all estimated delivery dates out another 30 days; mine changed from 10/31 to 11/30 this morning. Ford CS told me this morning there is no actual ETA on when whatever part(s) that are waiting on chips for Lariats will be in and the 30 move was simply because they know they almost certainly will be missing any October deliveries for Lariats. At this rate, I'm guessing I'll receive my 2021 ordered in May sometime in early 2022.

Mine just went from 10/31 estimated delivery date to 11/30 also. my order was placed 05/14/21. Very frustrating !
Mine is still 10/18. Last report from the dealer said it was in GA. Someone who knows about suck things said vehicles for our area go to Atlanta, GA or Lexington, SC and then get out on a hauler. So, if it goes to Atlanta, it’ll only be 5 hours away. I wonder how long it takes to be unloaded from the train and then put on a hauler…. A day, 3 days, a week?

Trying to stay chill, but feel like Christmas is just around the corner.

Fingers crossed….

IF your dealer did the paperwork correct, and your getting the $1000 rebate for ordering your own truck, it will be a customer order.
The dealer had to produce a signed buyers order with you ID as part of this "order your own" rebate so FORD knew it was a customer truck and not another stock order.

If you already see the window sticker and its green, its a customer order.
If its a blue window sticker, I think its a dealer stock order.

But I still have not seen any proof that the Customer orders are getting done faster than the dealer orders.

I did not get a $1000 rebate for ordering. The dealer printed me the window sticker before I signed anything.

Through the window sticker I was able to use Ford tracking.

If I remember your previous post you actually didn't order this truck. You are "buying" a truck that was already in transit so the 1K for custom orders would not apply.

forgive me if I am incorrect on your purchase

Another new turn of events; Ford Customer Service will no longer field questions about the status of the order - they sent me to Marketing, who knew even less but kindly offered me incentives that expire in October...this after just telling me that best case scenario is end of November to receive the truck. They still won't/can't say what part(s) the Lariats need chips for that the XLT doesn't.
