Otherwise you have to drop it down to check the air pressure in it. Anyone flipped theirs? Any issues?

Flipped when I got it two years ago, no issues

It is a little less stable because the chain is out more, but no issues moving or loosening, I take it offroad

Might just be easier to access the spare if you modify your Ranger like these trucks.....

I continue to be amazed at some of the ways people modify their vehicles. Not saying any of it is right or wrong, just being amazed.

Yep...keep the valve stem from getting hit by rocks etc kicked up on the road or trail. I personally never experienced this but a few durability trucks experienced flat spare tires during testing... So really unlikey for most folks, but we sell trucks to more than "most" folks....

Back Story on Most Folks. Back in the day, Ford offered a SuperCooling package on the F Series. The take rate was not much and there was a decision to drop SuperCool. Then we find a bunch of new Truck purchasers voicing complaints about their trucks overheating. It turned out the owners were using their trucks as stationary power sources with aux hand throttles and the constant usage at the set rpm could not cool the motor...! Mostly Levey belt drive water pumps in the deep Louisianan south... Yikes....!!!! Unknown usage of our Trucks...

Best.

I always keep it that way to avoid problems with the valve stem when getting high centered in a mud hole.

Also, it makes me drop the spare and actually take a good look at it so that I can verify it's still in good shape.

Good responses and good reasons for and against. I think I have a much higher likelihood of damaging one of the four running tire valves than the one tucked up under the rear. But if you are off roading a lot, I can see why you want to be careful. I am going to flip mine. I flipped the one on my 2003 F-150 with no issues.

I used something like this. Whenever I take it in to my dealer for "The Works", I ask them to check the spare and it's never been an issue for them.

This, plus having to drop it is the perfect time to clean and lubricate the hoist and cable.
