This past week, I have been doing truck like things like moving bags of concrete and pea gravel and cinder blocks, and the truck handled them all well, but today for the first time I had two adults in the back seat as we went to a restaurant for the first time with another couple, as Covid restriction are easing. My wife and my friend’s partner sat in the back seat. They really noticed every big bump. The bumps were really nothing in the front seats.

Would a change in shocks to the Eibach and Fox often discuss the forum, improve the ride in the rear seats?

Absolutely it will!! To my understanding most of the said problems for ride quality for our trucks have been the shocks as the dampening isnt the greatest. Now what you could do is go with either Eibach or Bilstein for both front and rear and for the front make it where its still at stock ride height. Assuming you dont want to lift the truck that is. Thats my input on this

fox rear change. One hundred percent change. Less body roll in the back and firmer ride. Also had a hydroplane situation where I believe the shocks helped reduce the body roll from my front and back swinging back and forth.

I just ordered the Eibach shock absorbers, something I wanted for months, but after my wife was in the rear seat again for a ride, she said get them. (Always good to have her blessing ?)

Once they arrive, I will have to find a location to get them installed without paying an arm and a leg.

i am hopeful for a noticeable change!

If it's just the rear you can install them yourself at home. Yes it may be a challenge but if you are mechanically inclined and have tools you should be fine. The front on the other hand are a different story

I installed the rears using ratchet straps to compress the shocks. I am handy but certainly not a mechanic. I did it in my driveway without a lift, or removing the tires, etc. You'll be fine.

Thanks, I will give it a try on my own. Does it help to jack the truck up at all, or is there enough room to do it, laying on the garage floor, without jacking it up?

All depends on preference. It is possible without jacking it up

Yep, like Frenchy said, I didn't jack mine up and it was fine. You can jack it up and remove tires but it's not necessary. If you're young and strong you may be able to install without compressing the shock, but I am neither and couldn't get in a good position to push the shock up by hand so had to use a ratchet strap.

The only thing is to be sure you get the nuts back in the slots that hold them in place. There's a little metal slot that holds the nuts, and if you don't get the nut back in that slot then you can mash it closed and then you'll need to use lock-tite to secure the nut. lock-tite might be a good idea anyway, but I didn't use it as the nylon lock nut seemed plenty tight already.

I had the eibach shocks and they were a little too stiff for my taste, switched to the rough country ones which were actually half the price and I gotta say they are the perfect balance. I really like them so far. Did a little off roading this weekend and it handled amazingly well.

Don’t forget that it is a truck. It’s not a Lexus. Make your friends understand that to get the awesome capabilities of this truck, you have to give up the couch like ride. Tell them to toughen up.

So is the black end connected at the top or bottom? Likely something tells you like on the stock shock.
