Dammit!shortened life by running it in S with higher RPMs?. just askin'
Where's that Carvana quote?
My truck has spent 80% of it's life in S. Better sell it now.
Phil's words will love on forever!I don’t care what the argument is but just saying the Ranger is tested to run 150k miles with no major repairs to the 90th percentile of customers.
No, that’s not true, it just goes into 9/10 less frequently.
But you did hit on the perfect solution to this problem. Simply press the tow/haul button when driving around town or other situations that cause the lugging. I find it completely eliminates the problem without the crazed beast behavior that sport mode unleashes.
Try it, I think you will be pleased.
This.
Tow/Haul is definitely the happy medium between drive and S.
Also, the vibration in the steering wheel does not sound normal to me.
If it truly feels like lugging near to point of killing the engine, which would be required to shudder the wheel, the RPMs would be dipping super low. Idle speed is roughly 850 rpm.
Again, I've never felt this as I normally drive in S until I get on a highway. I push up to drive if cruising 50-55mph. I try not to cruise below 1800-2000 rpms. We have a lot of hills here and I understand the dangers of LSPI.
