I can’t do it with the engine off because I can’t turn the wheel. I’m turning the steering wheel back and forth. That’s when I get this sound. It’s audible inside the cab as well
My 21 Tremor with 14k miles has been making this clunking noise for the last couple weeks. I don’t notice it while moving but if I turn the wheel when stoped I hear a metal clunk sound. I can’t pin point pass or driver side. Does anyone know what this could be? Tie rods?
First a foremost forgive my mechanical ignorance on this one if it’s normal. I was under my truck today doing a fluid film application before salt season gets here. I noticed what looked like a little chunk of metal missing near the rear driveshaft. Is this normal? Is that notch supposed to be...
Just wanted to update everyone. I drove the truck 200 miles today to get to a campsite with my son and everything seems good. Used the 4x4 on some loose gravel roads and it feels good. I certainly did not need 4x4 I just wanted to make sure everything was running ok.
I’m starting to get...
It makes me nervous about the future for sure. I’m surprised I didn’t catch it earlier. I’m sensitive to any kind of vibrations and the dam truck drove perfect. It still does.
I mean I didn’t feel a thing!
Thank you for comment on this Phil! I have read a lot you have said here on the forum and I wish I had the knowledge you did.
I was shocked when they told me too! I’ll contact Ford customer service and file a complaint and do what you told me.
this makes me feel better. I spoke to the tech and he told me just that! He said he is very experienced and didn’t see anything abnormal. Maybe the fact I didn’t use 4x4 (except once just to make sure it worked) and the fact it only had 1300 miles saved me. It’s under warranty another 59k miles...
Hey guys!
I posted a thread a few days ago about having a front axle seal leak. Well I took it to Ford and they fixed and returned my truck. The needle bearing was missing completely from factory assembly and they replaced it and told me everything is fine. Truck is a tremor with 1300 miles on...
Update: Ford will have my truck back today. It was leaking because it was assembled wrong at the factory. The needle bearing was missing. Hopefully no more issues
Checking the oil level on my truck is the most difficult I have every experienced. Every other vehicle I have ever owned it was not problem. Pull the stick, wipe, back in it goes, easy. Not my ranger.
I think a bit part of this whole oil thing is how difficult it is to get an accurate oil...
I just did a long search and cant find a single thing about a front dif or cv axle leak. All I'm seeing is people who have had rear leaks. I'm hoping someone can chime in here that knows these trucks better than me.
yeah mine is in the front and I’m not exactly sure what it is but it made a puddle about the size of a a coffee mug. It smelled like gear oil for sure.
Had a nice little puddle under the truck this morning. It’s under front passenger side. I think it’s an axle seal. I just dropped it off at the dealer and I’m praying they have it back to me by Saturday for our Labor Day trip.
21 Tremor with 1300 miles. Anyone have something like this happen...
Yes I changed the filter as well. I know some residual oil can remain and that’s why I put in just over 6 quarts. By just over I mean 6 into the engine and then a small amount more just to get the oil filter wet. Probably 6.1 lol.
I’ll keep an eye on it. I have a 500 mile trip coming up Labor...
