Change your fluid , filter, and upgrade pan, and you won’t need transmission work early.

its DIY if you have any skills.

search this forum and U Tube for how to.

Don’t rely on dealer, search for local shops.

It’s a 19mm cap and 8 mm and 12 mm bolts to remove pan, it’s not rocket science, I’m 77 and did it lying under truck on grass without lift.

The 10R80 is becoming a legend, good or bad. I assume reputable non-Ford trans shops are or will be getting good at working on them. Heck, there are already online places to buy custom units that have addressed all the common problems, and you can even get beefed up units for a premium.
check on the explorer st /gen 6 explorer site and face book lots of trans bulids there, even starting to use the 80 on the st bulids

Dealer if it's under warranty, transmission specialist if not.

10R80 transmissions have been out since 2017. Aftermarket vendors have had plenty of time to learn and improve on it.
They have, but until there is a steady demand for a builder, they won't bother with getting all the specialized tools and training to rebuild them. It will happen, it is just a slow process.

I live in a apartment complex, they get ansy if you even open the hood.

Any ways, all the shops in my area including tranny shops and the stealer want 3 hrs. labor at $125 per hrs. to drop the pan, new filter and fluid. Around $700 REALLY ?
If I couldn't have the pan off and filter out in 20 min.
I'd sellall my tools, and get Uber transport !
Why are the labor rate books so dam high ?
