Lol, that's awesome your doc fees can be negotiated. Right there in print. Most dealers here charge 400-600 and you can't negotiate.

For what it's worth, this truck is listed on Truecar, which assesses the price as "fair" compared to market value.

That's nearly $3k discount on essentially the same truck (year-to-year changes have been so minor that the model year is just a number if you plant to keep it long term), especially since it is certified. However, don't pay more than you're comfortable with. If $35k is what you think is fair, tell that to the dealer, give them your phone number, and tell them, "If you figure out a way to make it work, give me a call before I sign the papers on the new Ranger across town." If they don't call, oh well.
Here's one more I was looking at. Fully loaded XLT with 16K miles. They will CPO it for $35,000. She did say that I will lose a little on the bumper to bumper by going the CPO route, but it seems like the powertrain coverage to 100,000 would be worth it. thoughts?

Ya, if I saw it was over 150 I would have negotiated it, but looks like 150 doc fee is fairly standard from what I've researched so didn't care too much. Plus, I got the out the door price I wanted and was pretty content already. Considering this car purchase took almost 5 months in the making, I was just excited someone finally gave me the price I wanted and thought was fare. I honestly, went into the dealer not even expecting much because the general consensus with all the dealers have been pretty strict on how much they take off.

Overall, I did really like this dealership (autonation ford in Bellevue, WA) more than the other ones closer to me, I feel like they were a bit more straightforward than the rest. They're also the only one that admitted that sales has decreased almost by half because of the pandemic. Where all the other dealers I spoke to were lying their as off, despite all the research out there.

Starting to get cold feet about this offer. I think the offer at 35K is decent, but the truck is already 2yrs old and only one year newer than my Ridgeline. For a few thousand more I could probably get a 2021 with some nice rebates come Spring.

In 2019 I paid 41k for my loaded lariat with the zeibart gold package and bed liner. They gave me 21k for my 2010 F150 xlt. Plus I had 2 incentive offers and rebate so it paid for the zeibart and 75% of the extended warrantee. $150 + or- less per month on payment and a little less on insurance.

Which options are you really interested in? I think the offer is decent for the truck (over $6500 below original MSRP), but only if you want everything on the truck and nothing more. Do you really want FX4? Will you be happy without Lariat? Or are you settling for a truck that subjectively doesn't fit your needs/desires simply because it is objectively a decent deal?

If you can afford to wait a few months, then that's what I would do. Just keep your eye out for a great deal on the the right truck.

I was initially settled on the lariat mostly because of leather, but that's only because I've had them on most of my other vehicles. I am willing to try the cloth and maybe get seat covers. I did just find a 2020 same trim with only 5,000 mi (courtesy vehicle) for $35,000. Seems like a no-brainer compared to the 2019. I test drove a non-FX4 vs FX4 last week and I prefered the FX4 because it seemed to handle the roads bumps with less harshness. I am suprised that the XLT doesn't have push button start. Pretty crazy to have to use a key in 2021.

I paid $24,500 for my 2020 XLT Supercab in November, it was one of their courtesy demos with 2k on the clock. They had about a dozen to pick from at that price, which included Sport pkg, bedliner and 6 months Sirius subscription. I was very impressed with this dealers transparency and zero pressure. Plus they gave me 6500 for my 05 Taco with 200k miles.
Mullinax Ford?

Man, you southern folk are killing me with your prices.
Sticker on my Lariat, FX4, Tow, Sport was $54k Canadian.
I did get $8k off buying a 2019 in 2020, so basically full US msrp
Sounds like that $.78 Canadian to USD difference.

I'm sure you know, but just a reminder that certain seat covers can prevent proper seat-side-airbag deployment, since the airbag comes from the outer edge of the seat ;)

You just have to catch them on a day they are hungry for a sale and be prepared to walk. The Ford dealer I was at last week wanted $499 for the doc fee and also claimed it was non-negotiable. When I mentioned that I qualified for X-Plan they were more than willing to X-Plan a Ranger and then as I recall the doc fee dropped to $199. So somehow, when you qualify for X, A, Z or D Plans, the rules on the doc fee change. But back to original point, agree to a price on the truck. Then when they attempt to add the $400-$600 doc fee, tell them no deal, and reopen negotiations. They can always reduce the price of the truck to cover the amount of the doc fee you are unwilling to cover. If they stand firm, just tell them you will have to think about it and head towards the door. If they really want the sale, they will not let you out the door. Unless somebody else comes along and buys the truck, you can always go back in the a few minutes or the next day.

MSRP usually does not include sales tax. Savings are much less if that is removed.

Actually it's less than the true exchange rate. I've found Ford prices their vehicles at about 10~15% more than US. That is except for the Raptor. They charge full exchange rate for the Raptor.

What you mean? Ya tax/registration etc on top of msrp would have been close to 43-44k otd.
