Step 6 looks to be to position the cover assembly on to the truck. Maybe this has to be done prior to it being on the truck?
On the truck, off the truck, I tried both ways several times. I know that it is HIGHLY unlikely that there is something wrong with the kit and much more likely something that I am doing wrong but there is absolutely no way it will slide all the way forward without actually cutting parts. I'm hoping I get a response from Advantage saying that it is known issue or someone else installs one that can give me a measurement of their panel. In the meantime, I will take any suggestions from anyone on this forum that have any ideas. If anyone else happens to install one or the "Retrax XR', could you give me a measurement of the front/header panel?

Thank you fo doing this, even though it doesn’t work you.
Not a problem. I actually took a few of pics through the process but the frustration of the whole situation kind of put a damper on things.

Do you happen to have a factory drop in bed liner?

Yes, I have the drop in bed liner. The good news is that there shouldn't be any trimming necessary, at least in my case. I had to cut the bed liner on an F-150 install that I did but there seems to be enough clearance on the Ford drop in bedliner for the canister to slide all the way back without trimming.

My Ford dealer is suppose to be receiving mine tomorrow. If it comes in, I will measure it for you.

Don't forget about Peragon covers also. TheylTh be releasing their Ranger cover soon. They are kind of a hard, compact fold up. They lock and fold flat to the front of the bed so they don't take the space of a tri-fold or canister roll-up.

I'll probably be going this route.

I am working with Peragon now to get one of the first covers for a 5 foot bed, I will do an install with pictures for them. (Beta Test)

Just a note. You should research further.

I was at the car wash yesterday and saw a RAM with a paragon cover. I asked him how he liked it and he was quick to say it leaked. The older it got, the worse it was. I didn't get the model but it had several panels that looked like it folded.

Not trying to discourage you but I wanted you to know his thoughts.

Others may have additional comments.

Leaking is not an issue to me, it keeps stuff from blowing out.

Same here - my goal is for it to keep the bulk of the rain off stuff - but if a little gets in, that is fine.

@kep, I will be interested to see your install. My plan is to get a Peragon cover as well. I like how they can come out easily - they are reasonably priced and made in the USA too!

It looks cool but my first reaction when observing it operate was: How do you open the cover if your bed is more than half full of gear? Answer: You don’t.

For those that are interested in the DiamondBack covers, I reached out to see if they would be providing a product for the Ranger and received a response.

“Thank you for contacting us. Yes, we should have our covers available in the next month or less for purchase on the new Rangers. This will be added to our site for purchase as soon as it becomes available. A couple final test fits and we’ll be ready to roll with a solid part #.”

I think this is the route I will be going!
Me too. I’ve looked tirelessly at rolling, folding and retracting covers, but they all seem to share a common issue with failing seals where the panels meet. I was hoping that UnderCover would provide the Ridgelander for the 2019 Ranger but after emailing them, I learned the Ranger isn’t even on their radar.

The Diamondback covers seem to be an excellent option. If they offer multiple covers for the Ranger it will be hard to choose. Please let me know if you get any additional info or see them on their site.

I had emailed Diamondback too, they wrote back this morning.

“Yes, we will have all our covers available for the new Rangers. Hopefully everything will be for sale on our site in a month or so.”

So that’s 4 covers in total, a couple of them are very unique and all appear to be very functional. Kinda thinking about the 270 model.

Here’s a link with all the models:

So the only thing I found that was alarming while driving the Ranger was after I shut the tailgate and hopped back in to drive. I easily saw daylight through the tailgate and the latch side of the bed. So much so that I stopped the truck to check and make sure that I did indeed shut the tailgate. It was shut. There is just a crazy amount of gap back there. I don't think it would matter what you put over the bed or how you sealed it, water is still getting into the bed through that tailgate gap. Still though, a bed cover is one of the first mods I will do when I eventually buy one.

I'm not sure what you mean. The cover folds up into itself in the first panel or so. It is true you can't put stuff too high at the front of the bed, but that would be the same with a retractable cover as well. Maybe I'm mis-understanding what you are saying.
