Aftermarket or Ford hard folding tonneau cover availability?

Retrax makes the retractable tonneau covers for Ford. The reason that particular model is cheaper is because it’s made with plastic.

You want to look at the Retrax Pro XR series (https://retrax.com/retraxpro-xr) which is made of aluminum.

Both the plastic & aluminum models should work with Yakima racks.

When I check the Retrax Pro XR at tonneaufactoryoutlet.com for the Ranger, the price is showing as $1929. Did you get some sort of special deal?

Well, since i promised pictures, here are some pictures. I know this doesn't show much but I am not taking out the box until it's time to put it in the bed. Here are a few pictures of it in the box and the front cover of the instructions. As you can see from the instructions, it states that it is made by Advantage. I don't know if they make the Retrax Pro XR but call it the "Embark" when it comes to Ford but it looks, as far as I can tell, the same as the Retrax Pro XR. Is far as the top/slats of the cover, they are indeed aluminum and not plastic (or some kind of alloy that a magnet wont stick to). I should be installing it this weekend and will try to do a short video or at least some pictures of the install.

For those that are interested in the DiamondBack covers, I reached out to see if they would be providing a product for the Ranger and received a response.

“Thank you for contacting us. Yes, we should have our covers available in the next month or less for purchase on the new Rangers. This will be added to our site for purchase as soon as it becomes available. A couple final test fits and we’ll be ready to roll with a solid part #.”

I think this is the route I will be going!

Yes just do an online chat and ask them if they could sell it to you for $1,599.00 since I am in CA I had to pay some Tax, but I got them to work with me on some of that as well. The advertised price on the website is higher.

My dealer was able to offer $1,616.59 + tax on the tonneau cover so I’m going to buy it from them & install myself.

Well that sucked, three hours of my life I will never get back! I attempted to install the "Embark LS", Ford Part# VKB3Z-99501A42-E, and it didn't go so well. I don't know if I have a mispackaged kit or if it is just incorrectly designed. The the front cover panel that is supposed to go at the front of the cover towards the cab (section 5 in the instructions) bottoms out against the canister not allowing it to go far enough forward. to line up with the screw holes. It also doesn't allow the cab side to be flush. I, of course, was sure that I was doing something wrong so I even had my wife come out to get a second set of eyes on it. I emailed the warranty email address on the instructions and included pictures and a video so I will wait to hear back from them before I take it back to the dealer. Here is a video and a few pics of the problem

Step 6 looks to be to position the cover assembly on to the truck. Maybe this has to be done prior to it being on the truck?
