Do most of you guys have Extended warrentee for peace of mind and drive it until I breaks ? I don’t have the oil / problem but would it be worth it to press ford on this? Even at a reduced price?
Warranty ? No...

Well oil is changed and dealer is still trying to find the solution. Told me to keep a eye on it and let him know if the level increases.and as soon as he finds anything out he will let me know. He has one he has been working on with the same issue but much worst condition. Oil level went up so high it burnt out the converter from all the fuel in the oil. He figures if they find the problem on that one he will know what’s wrong with mine and be able to fix it. Fingers crossed. Hope he figures it out.

Honestly, I would not call 100k a win. If Ford built vehicles, if properly maintained, that could not run well past 100k, they would go out of business. All my F150's went well over that mark before I sold them or traded them in.

Don't get me wrong, a free extended warranty is better than nothing, but in the end Ford needs to fix whatever the problem is, or it is a breach of warranty?

My truck has been in 8 times and counting, 1 HPFP, 2 sets of injectors, all HP fuel lines.....over 4 weeks of a rental vehicle. I am thinking that before this is done, hopefully it will get fixed, that Ford would have been better off replacing the truck?

3] Maintenance issues such as dirty air intake or clogged exhaust.
Easy enough to check.

C'mon now, there aren't enough miles on most of these trucks for any required maintenance besides oil changes.
As you said "MOST"
Just exploring the possibilities...
Sometimes miles just don't matter much....

Simply saying that there is more than just miles which can clog an air filter. a desert dust picture night have been even more to the point.

Unreal. Each dealer acts like they are Ford's R&D shop. WTF?

Ford has data on every vehicle, seems like it would be bone numbingly simple to analyze all that data and send out a fix in regard to what has worked with other Rangers to the dealers.

I read an article were Ford is spending two times the average of any other auto maker for warranty service. Their trying to clamp down on cost and it looks like it's starting to hurt it's customers. Like you said with all the data there should be enough info to come up with a fix for this !

In the same article, Ford mentioned Farley wants to bring back the Quality and Assurance Teams that had been disbanded years ago to save on costs. I'm thinking, What did I just read!? So what took their place in the past few years??

Here it is, a quote taken from the recent article in Reuters:

"Bad parts from suppliers account for about one-third of Ford's warranty costs, Drake said. The rest stem from design and manufacturing issues, Galhotra said.

"Warranty recovery is increasingly seen as a revenue source" by the automakers, said Ann Marie Uetz, a Foley & Lardner attorney who works with auto suppliers. "Often times, it can feel like a bit of a grab."

To attack internal quality problems, Ford has reconstituted teams that track the quality of inbound parts at its plants. These teams were previously disbanded as cost-cutting moves. Farley is pushing executives to resolve quality issues that linger beyond 30 days."

My brother retired from Ford an how works part time for a major supplier to the Louisville plants. When the company supplying a part get a report of a problem guys like my brother have to open an inspect every part from that batch before it goes to the production line. Not sure how many problems it prevents but he said it's easy money an not hard work at all.

Get this... Did my second oil change over the weekend. 8400 miles on the truck. I let the drain pan with the oil in it sit overnight and the next morning the garage smelled like gasoline and oil. My 5 gallon recycle can was full after I dumped it in today and I took it to one of my local auto parts store to dispose / recycle it. He returned a minute later and said they could not take it because there was "too much gas in it". I assured him it was just oil and a few ounces of parts cleaner. He still wouldn't take it and said it reeked of gas. He even asked if I accidently dumped oil into one of my partially full gas cans. I had to find another auto parts store to recycle it.

3 gallons of the oil were from my Ranger and the other 2 were from my Mustang. My first oil analysis showed 2.8% fuel dilution. I just sent my second sample off today when I went to the auto parts store. My oil level never went past the top hole, so we will wait and see.
