I had the opposite happen on a fairly new Honda civic. Very hot California day, probably 110. Drove the car 3 miles to get the oil changed (while blasting the AC inside), and by the time I got there, there was a crack across the entire windshield that wasn't there 3 miles ago. Didn't hit...
How long do you suppose a Ranger needs to sit for that oil to become fully blended and can't burn off even with long trips? Maybe these fringe cases like @MotoWojo can be explained by this science. If someone only did short trips right after an oil change, and then let it sit or only did short...
Here it is, a quote taken from the recent article in Reuters:
"Bad parts from suppliers account for about one-third of Ford's warranty costs, Drake said. The rest stem from design and manufacturing issues, Galhotra said.
"Warranty recovery is increasingly seen as a revenue source" by the...
In the same article, Ford mentioned Farley wants to bring back the Quality and Assurance Teams that had been disbanded years ago to save on costs. I'm thinking, What did I just read!? So what took their place in the past few years??
Maybe it's not disabled because of any issue on your vehicle but instead just the iPhone. Do you have battery saver mode turned on on your iPhone? Once it reaches 20% it asks you if you want to enable that
Does anyone have a metal oil pan? There's plenty of oil pan heaters that could be an easy test. First one on Amazon I found says it keeps oil at 194 farenheight and takes only 15 minutes to get up to that temperature.
There's also the dipstick style
Driving style maybe give 3 options for organization: teenager, medium, grandma,
Color of coolant (did you get the orange or yellow?)
Amount of driving with an empty bed % of time
It seems like a massive survey similar to the one for engine build date might give some correlation between cases. Not sure if the poll feature is the best way, as it was hard to get enough response. Might be better to track it all on an Excel sheet and Direct message users who have had the...
Yep sorry about that frustration friend, I read the whole entire thread conversation and saw your issue continue while others had fixes. Hang in there.
I wonder what the result would be for you and the levels if you used a dipstick or oil pan heater for a few weeks. Although 25 and then 25...
From a deductive approach, it really sounds like previous suspicions by many are true--that it's caused by the cooler not letting the oil heat up enough. Does everyone's oil level go down back towards normal after long trips?
I'd imagine the problem isn't fixed in 2020's either; they aren't...
Using that heater yours came with may be an interesting test you could perform even before summer, and ultimately put this mystery to bed for everyone
I read this online: "Internal combustion engines use pistons to compress a mixture of air and vaporized fuel within the cylinders. That mixture...
Wonder if you'd see improvement to oil level if you remote start the vehicle (with either fob or the FordPass app) 10 minutes before you drive each day on a short drive? Would be an interesting experiment as well. Not sure what it would imply but something about the cooler being too big/strong...
Subscribed. I think your editing style is really good. Not flashy, not loud, not switching scenes too fast. Relaxing to watch, and I like how you have the camera outside the vehicle so we can see and hear. Keep it up!
I am thinking about getting a Ranger. I read through this entire thread and it concerned me. Let this be a message to Ford, I think I'll hold off unless Ford issues a fix and makes buyers whole again... and there's a few others who posted here that feel the same.
On the technical side, there's...
