Updated the map again after successfully loading 3.4. Still says 1.18. Load seemed to go fine. No big deal just was hoping it would show.

Software in Diagnostic menu also says 1.18

Are the people having trouble using the Ford Sync site Ford Sync Update or are you guy's using the "perform at your own risk" method at beginning of the thread? Just curious....
I used the official ford update. My climate control was gone after updating, but I added it back in with Forscan.

Mine is from the official Ford Sync Update site, and verified at the dealer as well as teh approved latest version.

mine was the official method that they've been working on for the past 6 months or whatever

update: after making a couple more trips the screen suddenly sprang to life, popped up the ford logo and really, really slowly started up. seems mostly back to normal except that I'm in the "no more climate control" camp. I look forward to installing another update soon. ?

I guess I'll try the map install again that never did work before the sync update.

I'd say that the vast majority of comments starting yesterday morning are for the official release on Ford's site.

By 'diagnostic menu', I take it you mean the IVSU Screen? If that's the case I hate to ask the obvious question but are you absolutely sure you downloaded 119 and used that to load the USB drive? I have 118 on my computer as well and the occasional screwups can happen.

Yes it’s 119. I am starting the download over. I formatted the USB and emptied the download folder. It acts like everything is updating including telling me it’s ok to take out the USB. About 30 min.

And yes IVSU

Yeah, disreagrd those messages. When it's done done it'll tell you changes take effect after ignition cycle or some such. That message stays on the screen until you close it and it won't automatically restart. Then it's ok to pull the USB. Mine took 1.5 hrs I'd bet......

So, getting back to Sync 3.4 my impressions are it's a very worthwhile update. The new UI took a few drives to get used to but the improved response time (especially on some things like jump to next song when using Bluetooth) are really welcome. Sadly that Climate bug is a buzzkill but once past that it's worth it.

Agreed.

I've enjoyed the new update, it's really smooth and nice. The climate bug and the fact that startup takes *significantly* longer than 3.3 did are both pretty big buzzkills.

I went to the dealer today, they said that they only have one person on staff who deals with these issues and because it "could be a very complex issue" they need me to bring it back tomorrow.

And my CarPlay disappeared again.

Shutting the truck off, opening the door, closing the door, and restarting brought it back.

This update appears to be a bit buggy.

Is there a way to completely power down the head unit without shutting the vehicle off?

The "power" button just shuts off audio.

Hold the fast forward/seek right arrow and the power button at the same time

I lost my climate controls after the update on my 2019 Lariat FX4 as well. This is bs.

I performed the update from Ford, seemed to go smoothly but as others have reported I do not have the climate controls. 2019 Lariat FX4
I'll probably give it a few days before busting out Forscan to fix it, I didn't use that screen much.
