I ended up hearing back from my dealer, he strongly doubts tonneau covers will be available in the first quarter of 2019. He said I can order the tonneau cover when I buy my truck, and roll the cost into my loan, and then come by to pick it up after it arrives.

Don't forget about Peragon covers also. TheylTh be releasing their Ranger cover soon. They are kind of a hard, compact fold up. They lock and fold flat to the front of the bed so they don't take the space of a tri-fold or canister roll-up.

I'll probably be going this route.

Another company to check is Agri-cover with their Lomax hard cover line. Tri-fold with no drain tubes, can fold back two sections on top of the front section and secure it for travel with 2/3 of the bed open, and the entire cover can easily be removed. When asked about the Ranger, they said to check back with them in mid-February.

I currently have a tri-fold fold. After trying out a Peragon type on a friends truck I don't think I'll ever get a tri-fold again.

While the tri-fold works well enough, I do get tired of always taking it on and off when I need to carry something large like a stove or fridge so I can secure them near the front of the bed. On his truck it just folded up to the front of the bed and let us strap a washer and dryer in with no issues.

After unloading just yank it back closed.

I actually had to leave my tri-fold at Lowe's a few weeks back as I didn't have room to take it with me once loaded up. They kept it inside and I went back for it that afternoon. I'm confident I wouldn't have needed to do that with the Peragon.

They still haven't let me know when they will have theirs ready.

Reading all I can about covers to see what works best for me. All have advantages and disadvantages. Tri-folds like BAK the bed is either completely covered, or it is folded up against the back window blocking your view, some like the Lomax can be folded to open 2/3 of the bed or be removed. Peragon folds down from the front, so you are limited as to what can be up against the front of the bed when closed, something too tall and you can't open. Retractables are expensive and take up part of the front of the bed, Only a few hard rollups with mixed reviews. Sounds like you are hauling tall items you strap to the front and Peragon works fine. For me four sets of golf clubs and a cooler, one sudden stop, they slide 6 inches forward and the Peragon might not open, probably not the best choice for me.

One correction - BAK tri-folds can be just 2/3 open. They have straps to fasten them in that position.

Screwed that one up. You are correct both tri-folds will allow you to open 2/3 of the bed. BAK will fold up against back window and requires drain holes. The Lomax does not fold up against window but can be can easily be removed and it does not require drain holes. Since I am getting a spray-in bed liner, I want to check out the drain holes before I order a cover. The hard roll-up cover also does not require drain holes.

I had a BAK and I didn't like the drain idea. It was a fairly large tube and it got in the way if you really loaded up the bed towards the front. It also developed a leak at one of the hinges.

I have a Bak G2 on my 2013 Ram, which I transfered from my 2010 Ram. The large drain tube that came with it was a pain until I bought a foot of small clear tubing. Then I took some brass barbed fittings, and attached them so the size decreased down to a decent size, cut an "x" in the rubber grommet, and stuck the last barbed fitting through. No issues for 8+ years. I'll be doing the same for my Ranger......when it gets here......someday.

I have a Lomax on my F150 and love it. But if I was to get a Ranger I would probably lean towards the Diamondback cover for additional versatility.
