Then I must be crazy, I do both. As ya'll have seen in most of the images that I have posted I just pull into the parking space. Except here at the house especially this time of year I back the truck on the parking pad.
And most people at Tyson drive through the parking lot like they're on a racetrack. If one of them did happen to hit my truck, I would rather them hit the back of it, instead of the front where the engine is. IMHO

But it doesn't take much to total a vehicle now a days, ask me how I know! My '19 Ranger was hit in the rear quarter by the tire at 20 around mph and it did so much damage they totaled it. So while getting hit up front where the engine is wouldn't be my first choice either getting hit from behind (or the side) doesn't always mean less damage.

To add insult to injury I just spent the whole day Sunday doing a full detail. :(

Dave, seeing that image of your old truck like that still makes me sad. I like the Saber color. I understand what you are saying though.

I've changed, since I last posted in this thread. I either back into the parking space or I pull through into one.

I know I commented here but seeing this topic just reminded me how much my wife complains when I back into spots lol "We aren't in Hawaii" is when she usually says. We never lived there but have been a few times and everyone backs in there.

The other day I didn't back into a parking spot because someone was on my BUTT and there were 3 open spots next to each other, so I just pulled in to avoid the dummy behind me. Backing out was such a pain because people just rush through parking lots, the backup cam is great n all but people are the problem.

This!! It doesn't matter if they're young or old they're all so preoccupied (or just rude) doing something else and you have to always be alert. There's been a few times like this where I couldn't back in because someone was on my bumper and trying to back out is like playing Russian Roulette. I start creeping back then the sensors go haywire because someone's either walking right behind me or speeding through because they're too darn impatient to wait 10 seconds while I back out. Then what really gets me is they'll give you a look like it's your fault! :explode:

You're too nice. I back in anyway and make them wait.

Dude I am telling you, they were on my butt and in a beat up sedan so I know they wouldn't care. Just easier in that situation to not deal with a possible headache.

Yup, I expect everyone on the road is an idiot, that way I am not surprised when I really do come across one. I sure do come across my share of them here in Vegas/Henderson as the population has risen a ton the last few years. Man I miss the empty freeways.

Empty freeways? What’s that like?

Toronto’s infamous 401…

Other than needing to make a quick get-away. Why would you back in when parking?

My brother-in-law is in law enforcement and he always backs in. Presumably to get out faster, if needed.

I used to back in all-of-the-time. Then I realized; If I back in, this leaves the front exposed (hate it when that happens) and if I get hit, they're most likely going to mangle the front of my Ranger, which, I believe, is more costly to repair.

Don't get me wrong - I still park far away and/or next to a median in the parking lot (to at least save one side from door dings). I'd bubble wrap my Blue Bullet if that was feasible.

Just a question I was pondering. ?
