About a half a mile before I get home I turn off the AC but leave the AC blower on. When I get home I let it idle for about 20 seconds or so while I decide what should be taken in the house and what is left in Ranger. Then I pop the hood release, shut off the engine and go to the hood and place about a 5 inch spacer under the front of the hood. This is all done to give the turbo and engine a little better chance to let the heat out. I live in Arizona, now you know why I do it.

There are some parasitic drains on the battery that dont shut off with the key. The only thing you have to worry about is not starting it or put on a battery maintainer, recharging the battery for more than one week depending on the condition of the battery. But, if you want to look like an astronot and throw a bunch of switch before and after take off then dont forget to notify the tower. ?
Pretty much any parasitic drains thaqt still exist on the truck after shutdown you can't do anything about unless you've done some aftermarket wiring. All the internal ports get shut down after something like 30 minutes or so of key off. IMO if you're going to be not driving it for weeks at a time, a battery tender might be helpful, but otherwise I don't think it'll be an issue. I've even got my dashcam wired into an "always on" battery saver for parking coverage, with a 12v shutoff.
I have to admit, out of habit I turn my radio down before I get out so its not loud the next time I get in
This is really the only thing I do. My radio never gets turned up very loud, but I always set it around 7 or so when I am stopping and getting out. Other than rolling up the windows, that's it.

You've started a new thing

To answer your question, I only shit off headlamps...everything else plugged in will be automatically shitted off after a time out...still haven't figured out if it's one or two hours. Door can unlock with engine on or off so no point there. Windows up yes before ignition is shitted off unless you're still on accessory mode. Unplugging USB? Why unless you're removing your phone but you still don't need to do that before shitting your truck off.
Do you know how long the auto shut off is for the USB ports in the back seat from the center console?

Hi Jimbo,

Correct as far as I measured mine and it turned off in two hours. I believe there is a Forscan setting for extending this time out....Covered in another thread
