I might’ve confused some people so excuse my subpar replies. I’ve been absent minded all weekend.

basically, I filled the truck with 6.2 quarts as required, but I am wondering if the oil level in this attached picture is normal. 50 something miles on it with this oil.

Also, my MAIN concern was that the oil was above the top hole after sitting without starting for two weeks.

after I started it. I let it run for 5 minutes. Sit for 30. Came back and this is my oil level.

is this okay or did I overfill it? Thanks

this is where the line stops after sitting for 15 minutes with a 5 minute run. So it’s not at the top hole. After sitting for 2 weeks it was at the top hole, but after starting and running it’s just barely over the hash mark.
Think she’s good?

Thanks. I’ll just chalk up the excess from sitting came from everything draining back to the pan. The picture looks exactly like the factory fill when I first got it.

Sorry for the anxiety. I’m medicated for it lol.

Yes, you can stop obsessing over it. It's good.

I would imagine a leveling kit will also affect where the oil reads on the stick. I put in 6qt and a splash of a QT. It’s between the 2 dots near the scored marks and I’m confident it’s fine. Don’t over think it...if 6qt are in there I would not worry about it

I’m just worried as to why it rises to the top hole when it sits for a day or so. After running it for five minutes, sit for 30, it’s where it should be.
But I put 6 filled quarts and 0.2 quarts in it. So I’m not sure.

Because the oil in the channels all over the engine flows back to the pan. When you turn the truck on and start the oil pump, it goes back.

This is same oil level mine had when I bought it, as well as after I had the dealer change it at the 1500 mile mark. It stayed at that level for another 5K miles never changed. When I changed the oil myself at 6800 miles and put 6.2 quarts in it was right at the bottom of the top hole. Now at 7000 miles it's just below the top hole but not quite to the line you showed.

So I’m not sure.
The manual states to drive the truck and then wait 15 minutes... not check it the next day.

The manual states if the level is between the maximum and minumum it is acceptable.

Your good to go. No worries.

Gotcha! That makes much more sense. So if that’s the case, I am golden, right?

You could always just brake the oil filter loose let that drain out a bit and see if the level reads where you feel better. If your not over the top hole even after it sits you are totally fine. But if you have anxiety from it pop the filter loose drain out what’s in there and see what ya read.

Does it really need the 0.2 quarts (6.4 ounces or .78 cup)? Seems like such a little bit, what difference could it make.

Mine has been at the top hole from day 1, & every oil change since. Now just shy of 30,000. Change at every 5000. I keep it at max for max protection. Over max is not good. Your mark is good to go.

I just changed my oil today and put in 6.2 qt and it was sitting at the top hole and the first thing I did was come to the site to see what others experienced. (I suffer from anxiety too). Glad that level is ok ("maximum").
