I just plan it out. Today I had 16 til empty according to the truck. I knew I'd need to fill up on my way home from work. I fill up if I won't be able to make it where I'm going. I won't risk running pout of gas though. I knew 16 or so would be safe on my way to work this morning. .

I’m careful with the Ranger and fill up frequently. I had an ‘08 Fusion that I would run down to fumes. It had a miles remaining counter front and center that I often put to the test.

Lesson learned…

The closest I ever came to running out was when I pulled into a gas station with 1 mile remaining and then realized the gas station had gone out of business… I made it to another gas station up the road with 0 miles remaining and all pumps in use. I sat there nervous waiting for the person in front of me to finish and ended up turning off the car.

It wouldn’t start again, and another person at the gas station was kind enough to help me push the car up to the pump when it was my turn. Made it!

With the Ranger and Highlander, I fill them up when there is about 1/4 of a tank left. Because I am retired, I don't have to fill up very often. :like:
With the Jeep, I always fill up before going off road no matter how much is currently in the tank.

It all depends. For my pathfinder I usually try to go to 1/4 but when going to work and back I just do every 2 days. Depending how I did I could do an extra day but dont feel like it.

In my 94 F150 with dual tanks(freaking wonderful) I usually go until I need to switch tanks(litteraly).

When I had the ranger I usually did 1/4 tank.

If I'm getting read for OffRoad adventures it depends what and where I'm going and where the tank is.

As for gas saving tips I can say to get rhe Conoco app as it works with Conoco, Phillips 66 and 76 gas stations. I get $0.28 off a gallon every fill up up to 30 gallons and it has helped me save every time.

Before and after a trip to McCall.

I have a 1000 gallon propane tank there and am getting 300 gallons delivered for 3.88 a gallon.o_O
Now I know how truck drivers feel.
There was a time when I had to buy diesel for my truck at over $4 per gallon in some states.
Consider that road diesel is mostly over $5 per gallon now.
Owner Operator drivers are really hurting now when they go to the pumps. Some of those tanks are 120 gallons per side.
