Looking at RV trailer and see a fair amount of people towing. I am concerned with the small 18 gal gas tank and know pulling that less than aerodynamic dead weight on wheels can have serious mileage consequences on any vehicle. It certainly did on my 05 Chevy Avalanche 5.3. Wondering about the hit on this Ranger before I get too excited about finding a 16-22 ft trailer?

I got about 12.7 mpg towing a 6x12 well built utility trailer on a 900 mile round trip to Oklahoma City from Little Rock AR. It had about 500 lbs in addition to trailer. I was lucky to get 200 miles before I had to fill up

I get around 11.5-12 mpg towing my R-POD 191, about 4000 lbs. Seems to be pretty typical for RV that size. So yeah plan on stopping about every 200 miles.

I get 17-18mpg towing my 16’ aluminum boat. Not sure what the total weight is? I’m guessing 1,500-1,700lbs?

Power to tow and your feul mileage, is much more about the square feet of the sail, than it is the lbs. Our camper sits quite a bit higher than our truck and while on the interstate and really zipping along, we could drop GPM to 10.

Here is the mileage towing our utility box like camper at interstate speeds. The tank on our 2019 is something larger than 19 gallons. Sorry that my camera focused on the wheel.

Just got back from 4700 mile round trip to west coast from Wisconsin, towing 4000 lb TT. 70 mph on interstates, tow mode with 9th and 10th locked out. Got about 10.5 mpg average. Lots of wind through Missouri, Oklahoma, Texas and New Mexico. Very happy with my WDH setup. Felt the wind and semis but never had the tail wag the dog. Truck handled the hills just fine, the engine breaking worked great on the down hills. Even in the heat of Southern Arizona tranny temp never went over 212F. Mpg probably would have been better at 60-65 mph, but then you get run over on the interstate. Even smaller TTs push the frontal area limits of the Ranger. With the winds would not wanted much more side area.

Truck talk straight up.
Forget about mpg's its a pickup.
Especially when towing, have money for gas.
The Ranger has a tiny fuel tank.
Advantage-you can drink water, coffee, pops, whatever, so when you have to go number one, the Ranger will need a fill up too. Have fun, worry about mpg on a tesla or smart car.
Can't tell you what to do, but that is what i do. #sportmode! #tow/haulmode

I tow an 18ft bass boat with a 115HP outboard, total weight is maybe 3000 lbs. I get between 14-16 mpg on the highway.

Fuel mileage is 90% the size of the sail, not the weight.

14’ enclosed , 2500#, Tandem axle trailer with 1000 pounds of gear.
I always wish I had a larger gas tank.
10-11 mpg in level ground. Same in Smokey Mountains.

Towing our pop top Jayco camper trailer ~ 1500 KG knocks my mileage back from about 10litre / 100 Km ( 23.5 US MPG) to about 11.5 (20 US MPG) ( 3.2 litre i5 powerstroke diesel)

Mostly using ACC, 65 mph average.

Same here towing a 23 ft wildwood xlite. I figured I'm at 5500 fully loaded. (4300 Dry) 11-12 mpg
