I found a better deal at a different dealership so I went to cancel my refundable $1000 deposit and the dealer told me nope, cant give you your money back until we sell the truck (that hasnt come in yet) to someone else. I about hit the freaking fan. After a little legal threatening he said I can come pick up my check but probably not until tomorrow. He said the process takes a little time to issue the check. I KNEW this would be a pain. But I have photos of all agreements and made them include a statement saying the deposit was refundable. I guess I should've added the words "refundable on demand".

Paying it off early means that your wallet's not as fat and that's better for sitting. (I dunno, I don't have enough money to do any of this!)

Better for your FICO score, I suppose.
I've actually found that my FICO score likes me better when I have a car loan. I have minimal debt so maybe it likes when I have various types of debt.

I think you're right.

From what I think I understand, I think if you have no debt at all, you're not viewed as valuable (and thus you get a lower score, as perverse as that may sound).

And that makes sense because lenders want to make money off of you, which means they want you to carry a balance that they can charge you interest on.

Thanks, but it's my kiddo and his friends keeping the bad guys at bay now. He's in Poland right now with no word on rotation. It'll happen, but he may be there for a year. I actually loved that job, even when it sucked.
Hope he’s enjoying the Pierogi and Keilbasa.

My mom and her family were deported from Poland, her town is now part of Ukraine, thanks to Stalin. if my mom was alive she’d be so supportive of our men and women currently deployed to Poland.

I score 824-826 out of 850 and haven't had a car payment in a few years. No debt, and I still can't get to 850. Lmao!

That's the point, add a car payment and you'll probably hit that number. They like to see a variation of debt.

I think everybody missed my last post on p.82 (sucks being the last post!) but it looks like dealership A will give me my $1k deposit back so I can purchase from dealer B (6 hour drive away) to get that sweet MSRP. The good news is dealership B doesn't charge any BS fees or doc fees or anything. So I'm coming out with about $1500 better deal.

'22 ranger xlt 4X4 301a sport pkg
locking diff
trailer pkg
$38,555. Will have to pay tax at home, dealer doesnt do that. Fine with me.

Yes, the posts about having everything paid off is likely why one gets a lower credit score. If you have two or 3 debts and you are always making your payments on time, you get a higher score.
That's what my wife and I were told when we got everything paid off and went to get an equity loan to do some remodeling.

When I relocated about 5 years ago I had no debt - credit card, car, house, nothing. When I went to purchase my home I needed to take a small mortgage again, and my Credit Score was in the 500's. Mostly because I had no credit payment history other than the Insurance companies and utilities that happened to report. And even though I was putting down 60% cash for the house, the lender had me jump through hoops in order to extend me the credit for the mortgage.

Isn't that insane? That type of thing makes me mad. The system really wants people to carry as much debt as they can and that's what the FICO score reflects - always be on time but be near maxed out.

So someone like you, extremely responsible and in the best financial shape that anyone would love to be in, has to hassle with extra steps. Makes no sense.

On another note, looks like you're getting close to actually getting your Lariat! I hope for a speedy delivery once built! =)

It is crazy. This is one reason I use my credit card for just about every purchase. I rack up point (1 1/2 for every $1) and it keeps my credit score up there at 835. My Ranger only has a small loan at 0% so that helps too but with no mortgage or other debt they make it difficult to keep your credit score up there.

When we were traveling last month my CC was p over $4,000 from gas, hotels etc. After that my credit score took a 16 point hit because of that. ?‍♂ Now that I'm back to normal spending again it's right back up there but it's crazy how fast it can change. Now what I do is when I make a large purchase on it I'll pay it off right away. I'll still get the points and it won't ding my credit score.

The credit rating companies stopped tracking and adjusting my score - I simply buy too many Ranger-related things every day and the churn on their servers is just too much.

On another note, Kate legally changed her entire name many years ago. When we went to refi our house shortly after, a local Wells Fargo rep said she didn't have a credit history so it should show up as perfect!

Derr, really? Just change your name and wipe the slate clean?

One thing's for certain, death and taxes means they follow you no matter what - name change, moving to Mars, whatever.

With all the stuff you've been buying yours should've broke their whole system. ?
