Yea, that was pretty bad that year for them down there. That's why I bought a dual fuel generator. No storing 20+ gallons of gas and propane never goes bad. I'll have a 500 gallon propane tank and will have a line near the transfer switch for it.

I bought a Honda EU7000is about 4 years ago. Took it out of the box, poured the oil into the crankcase, hooked up the battery and tucked it away until the day I needed it. I also had the power company install a "Generlink" unit behind the meter. About a month ago I finally got to use it for about 3 hours. It was nice to have the furnace, water heater, & washing machine all running.

Neil, It is nice to have one when you lose power especially during the winter where you re. I had a Generac whole house generator back in MA. It would run my whole house except the central ac unit but I had 2 spare window units for backups. I had a sump pump which would run 6-7 months out of the year (had a large mountain behind with a lot of runoff) and one day we lost power and I was bailing water out of the pit for 4 hours. ? That was the tipping point for me lol and if I wasn't home the basement would've been flooded.

I bought a smaller unit that was on sale this summer. It's a Champion dual fuel 4,374/3,500 electric start for $350. Everyone I talked to here said the power goes out on occasion but it's rare for it to be out longer than a few hours, max has been 2 days during an ice storm 12 years ago. I'll have a zero clearance wood fireplace so I just needed something to run the blowers, some lights/outlets, microwave and the fridge. I cook on the grill year round so I didn't care about the stove and the washer and dryer can wait. lol

I don't mind the cold but the damn inversion sucks.
I feel your pain! That happens here quite often. The town I live in is in a bowl. There will be days in the winter when it will be 20-40° colder than it is at the higher elevations.

I'm cracking up over here guys. Driving to work this morning I thought to myself - sheesh this steering wheel is ice cold! I looked at the temp and it was 46°F

Mojave life baby.
lol I feel your pain. When I lived in AZ I felt cold when it was under 75. But living 5-6 months when it's well over 100 (110+ for a good 3 months) will do that to you. Now I'm acclimating to the weather here but last Friday morning it was pretty darn cold out! ?

I rode a motorcycle for a lot of years. I've been up Pacific Coast Highway, Tail of the Dragon, and Blue Ridge Parkway. My buddy and I had a tradition of riding on Christmas day. I sold my bike in 2021, shortly after I got my truck. Earlier this year, I was in my truck with a hoodie and the heat on. A dude rode by on his motorcycle and I realized that I've...softened...since selling my motorcycle.

Received my AnzoUSA LED headlights. Had two minor surgeries last Friday and doing 4-6 weeks healing so won’t be a DIY project for me. Called my local custom 4x4 shop they said they’d do the install for 1.5 hrs of labor charges.

There is no way they can do it in 1.5 hours so they will be eating some labor it will take about 4-5 hours and that is with previous research on how to get it apart without breaking tabs it is not quick and easy, I suspect you will be paying more than the quoted cost once they realize what actually needs done to get the assemblies out.

I bought a generac with a 250 gallon propane tank, in this hurricane area, it’s the best investment I ever made .
