Went to the MVD last Thursday to renew my DL...and an amazing thing happened there! I barely got seated and my number was called...the clerk confirmed that my wait time was 17 seconds! o_O

Was I in the Twilight Zone instead of an MVD office?

They spotted the truck parked straight so got you right in. :p

David @subquark is so used to backing up at the dump he figured this is how it's done at the dentist.
Judging by how far off it the asphalt it is, I'd say it's a little presumptuous to say he backed in and didn't just drive across the lawn. I mean it was an emergency after all, lol.

Got up early to head to Toronto (3-hr drive) - had to get there early, so was leaving at 3:45 am. Tried starting the Ranger and got these warnings….

No big deal. Thanks to this forum I knew what to do - grabbed my flashlight and popped the hood to remove the battery terminal for a few minutes.

Saw this…

Tiny footprints! Looked around and saw this…

Roh-Roh. Looked further and saw this…

Squirrels!

I had to MacGuyver it back together in the dark with whatever I could find in the storage shed at the cottage - first stop was the can of Deep Woods Off. There was no way I was doing that with bugs swarming me. Then I grabbed my electrician’s tool caddy and looked for whatever I could find. A 12v adaptor and a pendant lamp reluctantly donated organs so I could get on my way.

Looks like crap but works, for now. Will do a proper job later.

Thanks Mark - it certainly wasn’t what I wanted to be doing at 4 in the morning, in the dark, with bugs everywhere.

I think I might re-pin that connector - if it can be re-pinned and if I can figure out how to properly do it.

Maybe someone on the forum knows if that connector can be bought as a pigtail (maybe our good friend Benny @LevittownFordParts.com knows) or if they’re easy enough to re-pin. Anyone?

With a good pin removal kit, and some new plugs you should be able to fix it. Wires may be a tad short though so you may need to do some soldering with heat shrink wrap. Maybe you can use the old pi ns too. Good luck with the repair. Rodents are some of the worst for cars

I also helped another Ranger, Bronco, and Maverick take up two of three lanes on the Gardiner Expressway before heading back to the cottage….

I let my 6'4" son drive my Ranger for the first time on a short leg of our road trip.

He did fine, but I spent the rest of the day constantly adjusting my driver's seat and mirrors until it felt right again.
