Took the truck to the dealer for some of my free maintenance plan. Truck was out of alignment on the inspection so I went ahead and asked to have that fixed.

I also asked that the tech loosen the transmission fill bolt and then re-tighten to spec. Making the dealer do that first will greatly reduce my effort installing the MBS Extended dipstick for the transmission, I figure.

there’s “work smarter not harder” and then there’s “make someone do the hard part for you”. I subscribe to the latter notion where possible lol.

Smart man, that bolt was a massive pain. I basically ran a series of wobble extensions all the way up through the engine bay and was able to get it off using a breaker bar that way. Wouldn’t recommend that method, definitely felt pretty sketchy. You need wobble if you’re going out through the engine bay because there’s not a straight shot.

Did a speaker upgrade and installed sound deadening in the doors (only bought 8 sheets so there are a few gaps). Affordable upgrade and made noticeable difference in bass response.

I've gone back and forth on these speakers. Worth the upgrade?

This may be insanely simple and many may have known, but discovered the button to turn off the infotainment while I’m driving.

in the settings there’s a “display” on the second page, which brings us here. Tap “display off” and the screen goes dark.

when reversing, the reverse camera will turn on as needed and then darken once out of reverse.

if I need the screen I just tap it to wake.

driving this way at night was absolutely sublime.

thought I’d share for anyone who didn’t know.

News to me. Especially considering how much time I spend driving when it's still dark outside. Thank you for sharing this.

For those that still want the screen on, but hate the blue screen. It's pretty obnoxious. Go into the APIM in the Forscan easy menus and change the "Brand" to "Lincoln". The in "Visual Design Variants" select "Lincoln Timeless". This will give you a nice dark Grey screen. You can also go into the SYNC menus and set the screen to stay in night mode. If I remember right you can also choose a darker background color. Much easier on the eyes, even in the daytime. Also, to me, a betr looking screen design.

How you get into the APIM?

Thanks. You need access thru OBDII?
