Well, I started to add my Diode Dynamics lights to the truck, but ran into problems.

A-pillar lights installed fine, and I have to say that their mounting bracket is a bit more engineered than being simply a piece of bent metal. Even have cutouts for the zip ties used to guide the wires. Dunno if they’re worth the $80 or so, but at least it doesn’t feel like something I could do myself.

The fog lights, however, were a different story. Sure, there’s the standard pains of getting to them, but that’s been discussed well enough I don’t need add to it. Instead, my real problem was that one of the wiring adapters, used to connect the light into the factory harness, didn’t work. Sent a message to the vendor, and should hear back on Monday. Even still, it’ll probably be after the holiday before the replacement arrives. And troubleshooting this whole ordeal cut into the time I had available, and soon I couldn’t keep the wife and kids at bay long enough to finish. So I’ve got one stock fog in place, and one SS3 one.

Joy.

The connector was correct fit and didn't work, or was the wrong connector? You can use a multimeter to check for continuity. Also maybe a dumb question but did you flip the connector to reverse the pins as these are polarity sensitive? Otherwise perhaps you have a bent pin?

I installed the Max version a few weeks ago and couldn't be happier with them. I also have the ditch lights and brackets but haven't installed yet. Good to hear your positive feedback on them.

Correct fit, but didn’t work. At first I thought it was the light (because why would a connector not work?) since plugging the other new light/adapter into that side’s factory connector worked fine. Then I thought maybe I got lucky with the polarity of the plug on that one, and not the first, and flipped it around. Still nothing. Switched to the adapter from that other light, and it lit up clear as a yellow day.

So yeah, light tested good. Flipped plug over to check the circuit polarity, still no go. So problem’s with that adapter. Maybe if I felt like trying to re-pin it myself, I’d break out the multimeter on it, but it’s a $10 part. If (for some unlikely reason) I get any pushback on it, I can always just buy a new adapter from here:

Besides, I’ll be out of town for the next week or so anyways so it’s not like it’ll really impact me.

My condolences. How much extra cash you got kicking around? Let the upgrades begin!

No pictures from me today because...well... it looks no different unless I get under the truck again... I installed the Eibach rear shocks today. Both easy and a pain in the butt. I didn't jack up the truck and the shocks were a pain to compress. Finally got it though. Ride is so much better now that the front Eibachs are not fighting the FX4 rears with different dampening rates. Firm but smooth. Best upgrade to date.

Went camping on the Nehalen River in Tillamook Forest. Got chance to properly try out the 4x4 on some steep, loose gravel roads.

Replaced the factory running boards with Westin HDX Drop Step bars and put on Bushwacker Rocker Panel Sill Protector.

Put on the rear Eibachs today. Easy job. Took 30 minutes including a break for coffee and to look up torque specs on the net. Used a small floor jack to compress them into the lower mounts and a pry bar to line them up. Took a short 20 mile drive, definite improvement. One expansion joint on a bridge I cross everyday that usually bounces the truck pretty good. With the Eibachs on the back it was like it wasn't even there! Much less body movement and bouncing. Can't wait to get the fronts Stage 2 coilovers on. Gotta get a couple axle nuts before I attempt those.
