Did mine today and a 3 foot cable is the bare minimum to reach. Also went to Autozone and got a package of grommets to pretty up the hole
I'm going to do the same thing with a rubber grommet

Thank you Dr Zaius,
No more cord running across my SYNC screen. I did it this morning to power my old S5 that I use with Torque Pro to show boost and tranny temp while towing.

Got to love zero dollar mods. So does the better half, got enough expensive ones on the list.

I considered something similar but I was concerned about creating a possible projectile in the event of a crash. For that reason I decided not to mount or store anything on the top of my dash.

My thoughts are, in a crash things are going forward not backward. Also I wanted the gauges up where I can see them without looking down and taking my eyes off the road. I don't want to be the one causing the crash :frown:.

Are you running a radar detector? Have you had any interference since placing your phone on the dash? I have an S8 and when I set it in the tray on the dash, my radar detector starts reporting laser detection every few minutes. The detector is the top of the line Beltronics and not a cheap one that acts up. It's mounted just under the rear view mirror.
Regarding the frequent radar alerts. Many new vehicles use radar as part of the rear side warning sensing (ours do, at least my Lariat has them in the tail light assemblies) and that might be the source of your alerts.

True, right up until they strike the inside of the windshield and then bounce back into your face. Ouch!

The down side to putting the phone there is great is death on batteries
The solution for that is 70% 3M cyrstalline windshield tint. No heat or uv rays.
I did mine and absolutely LOVE IT

There is NO issue with being able to see at night! You can barely tell it is tinted at all. On top of that it greatly reduces glare! Something these old man eyes like!

Check out some you tube videos on it. You'll see.

uh-huh. reality suggests otherwise, that's why it's illegal pretty much anywhere.
