I have yet to find a phone mounting option that I love yet, both in terms of which product to buy and whre exactly to mount my phone in the Ranger cab. Does anyone have suggestions for what has worked for you, and/or warnings about what did not?

I saw one thread where a poster had glued on a mount near the screen, but the sun metled it enough to fall off. I'm in Texas, so I am doubly at risk for such shenanigans.

Here’s what I did. Built rite mount with ram ball, arm and motorcycle phone mount. Solid stable and phone doesnt move. Everything except the built rite ford ranger mount was purchased on amazon. Wasn’t cheap to do but its bulletproof.

Like @rltriumph, I'm running the Builtright Industries mount with a RAM X grip phone holder (https://www.builtrightind.com/products/builtright-industries-dash-mount-2019-ford-ranger). It works great, and it's definitely not going anywhere. You just need to bolt the Builtright mount through the center dash tray--it's an easy install.

When mounting the dash mount favor away from the windshield. The plastic dash support hits the screws if you push it towards windshield. Lesson learned.

I actually did the opposite, because I wanted to be able to easily slide my mask (ahhh, 2020...) and other flat items underneath. I installed mount as far towards the windshield as possible, and I just drilled a hole in the inner plastic dash support structure where it was making contact with those bolts, so it wouldn't interfere

I like the concept a lot, but I would hate to lose my tray. I use it daily for my wallet, and often more.

Theres room under it and a gap depending what direction you mount the dash mount.

If you're needing convenient storage in your truck, try THESE

6188vbrh7HL._AC_SL1000_.jpg

I used to have a Miata where interior storage is at a premium and one of these was almost mandatory.

After I got rid of the Miata, they were kinda laying around and I thought I'd try one in the Ranger.

Fits between the center console and the passenger seat and is a great catch-all for wallet, sunglasses, etc.

I put the second one in my wife's SUV and she loves it too.

I have the same issue finding where to hang my phone. In my old car there was CD player and magnetic holder was inserted there. Now central console takes everything :)

I recommend the Builtright Ranger dash mount together with the RAM attachments. Been using RAM mounts for years...on my previous trucks, cars Harley etc. They are solid and well made.

Ram makes their phone mount in different sizes to accomodate different phones. The one I got (see pic) is regular size.

(Btw, the one in the pic is a Builtright dash mount from my Raptor, but I got it to work in my Ranger by using different screws. Install is similar also)

Neat. Thanks for sharing. Won’t that block the display screen, though?
It's going to block some of it, but I'm hope that if I shove it all the way to the right it won't block much more than the settings button. I rarely use that button when driving so it shouldn't be that big of an issue.

I finally got the new pro clip mount and have it installed. I have it all the way to the right and from the driver seat I can still see the whole screen. The settings button. Is a little harder to get to, but overall it works really well. I keep forgetting to take a picture but I'll try and post one soon. It's a pretty sold mount and seems like it's as good a spot as anyone else has found.
