When I got into the 2019 Ford Ranger there was one thing I found to be the most annoying thing ever. That happened to be the lack of storage space under the rear seat. Now keep in mind that before the Ranger I had a 2016 Nissan Frontier crew cab. My Ranger was also a crew cab. With the frontier I had plenty of storage space underneath the rear seat. For this storage space I would put a few different things like straps or the ball mount for towing or cargo holding and other miscellaneous goodies like a first aid kit in there. When I got the Ranger, I was lucky to fit a few beer cans in one of the storage compartments. And when I say few I mean like two at best. Those who have a crew cab know what I'm talking about.

Well let me show you what the Ranger should have had. Mind you this is out of my 2012 Frontier that I just took out.

Here's what I just put in and it gives me even more storage space under the rear seat. It also gives me a place to mount a fire extinguisher without having to drill holes anywhere! To say at least I'm pretty happy and wish the Ranger came with something like this!

The scab has even less storage. A little under the jump seats, and nothing else. I keep everything in a swing box in the bed, which I like a lot.

Don't get me started on what else it should have. I've come to terms with it, and like the truck overall.

My first truck was a regular cab and there was no space under the seat and the seat back did not fold to allow you to store anything behind the seat. My second truck was a mini truck with bucket seats, you could put some stuff between the seats. My third truck was a regular cab but the seat back would fold so you could stash some stuff behind the seat. My fourth truck was a club cab, it had bucket seats with a console with some storage space. The back seat base would fold up and lock but there was no space to store anything under it. The back seat back was fix to the cab wall. My fifth truck was a quad cab with bucket seats and a console. The rear seat base was split so you fold up 1/2 or all of it and the seat back would fold down and there was enough room to store a snow brush. I used to keep a basket on the floor or back seat in these trucks with all the stuff I felt I needed in the truck.

My Ranger Super Crew has all kinds of space to store stuff compared to all the others. Cubbies in all four doors, a console, decent sized glove box, two storage compartments under the back seat and enough room behind the back seat for a tow rope, collapsible shovel and a 2'x2' piece of wood to Jack on. Everything I need to have with me fits in the truck without needing a basket. Of course more storage is always good but the Ranger is certainly not lacking compared to every other truck I have owned.

You should look at a Crew Cab Frontier from 2005 to now. You will see the difference for underneath the rear seat and see what I'm talking about.

I have no doubt that there are trucks with more storage space. A buddy of mine bought a 22 Frontier, it does have more space under the seat but nothing dramatically bigger and one was full with a kit that came with the truck. IMHO, the Ranger is very good compared to the other trucks I have owned over the past 45 years.
