Ford tune done 4k miles or more ago. Computer says 17.0 using normal driving of highway and freeway- but using pump calc it's 16mpg. If I drive it harder, it's less than that. Slightly larger tires, with ford performance suspension upgrade. Does include the computer recal for the new tires. 4x4. No idea how you all get 20+

I have been getting only 15.3 the last two tanks. I know we are on the crappy winter gas but dang. My trips are mostly short 4 miles to work and 4 back home. Usual Monday-Friday trips.

Those short trips are the worst for mileage. Every vehicle runs richer while it warms up, which increases fuel consumption, and when temps are lower, fluids are more viscous which increases drag, same thing in your tires (warm tires have lower rolling resistance), plus combined with winter blends, it's a perfect storm for low mileage.

Stock 21 tremor. 87gas since new. Took a trip from Northern VA to Buffalo NY. 85 mph at highest speed & sometimes 20 mph stuck behind trucks in mountains. Lots of 4x4 driving in Buffalo snow, short trips. On way home out of Buffalo Sunday had to drive for 45 min in 4hi trying to leave as conditions were bad. Cruise control a few times(adaptive froze over & wouldn’t work so switched to regular cruise). Total mpg for entire trip was 20 mpg on the trucks computer. Even if that exaggerates it a little I’ll take it. Did the same trip last February. Again a super comfortable, easy 7 hour drive each way. Love the power to pass in the mountains when you need to get around a truck quick.

In my '19 Lariat 4 door 4x4 I am seeing 21-22 consistently in commuter driving using 89 octane. On 87 octane I was seeing 20-21 consistently. Honestly very pleased with the mpg. My Sport Trac 4x4 was getting 15-16 in the same commuter traffic. With my leadfoot son now driving the 'Trac it still only gets around 16, with 18 on his 500 mile round trip to and from college when he comes home. So I have zero complaints about my Ranger mpg! The tires I am running are Bridgestone Dueller Alenza's, so they are highway tread biased, and I have the 18's.

Our 2019 Ranger consistently got 27 mpg on the OEM factory installed Hankook LT265/65R17 109T tires. We drove it with those tires for about 32,000 miles
We then had new Michelin LTX A/T 2 265/65R17 112 tires installed and got the truck aligned. It now consistently gets 24 mpg.
These are hand calculated MPG's.
The new tires are 5 lbs lighter, and 0.4" smaller in diameter. I expected the mileage to get better, not worse.
Kind of a mystery
A/T will usually net a drop in gas mileage due to tread pattern.
How are the tires smaller in diameter when they have the same dimensions?

Depending on weather conditions 21-24 combined with an E50 tune. I am not seeing any difference in my combined driving between 93 and E50. Sounds contrary to popular belief, but it is true.

My 2WD XL on stock Bridgestone Dueler H/Ts I was only getting 16.4 MPG for all my short trips (less than 1000 miles at that time). BUT ... on a 6-hour day trip, I did get 28.1 with driving in the White Mountains and some 70 mph highway driving.

Latest measure:
The truck: 2019 4x4 SuperCrew - 48xx miles - 18" wheels with Blizzak snow tires (275/60R18 34 psi). Ford Performance tune.
The trip: 260 miles round trip; 75 mph cruse control; 95% Interstate
MPG: 18.0
Going back to stock tune for winter to see if that changes anything.

Both the Hankooks and the Michelins are A/T

How are the tires smaller in diameter when they have the same dimensions?
You have to look at the specific dimensions of whatever tires you buy... they all vary somewhat

interesting. I wonder what else about the Hankooks is contributing to that fuel economy?
Might be the rubber compound. Hankooks are hard, try sticking your fingernail into them... Michelins are a much softer compound... which is really a good thing on ice.

I'm thinking this ^^^^ is the biggest factor in mpg decrease with the Michelins.

I didn’t know Ginger could be so efficient with gas. ?. Yes, of course I was driving down a long hill. At one point it showed 47mpg, and a range of 490 miles!

My Ranger's mpg has always been between 8 mpg when towing our 6500 lb trailer up mountain grades under throttle in a lower gear, to 9999.9 when coasting down mountain grades.

my camper isn't heavy enough to push my instantaneous fuel economy that high. the ranger's engine braking is enough to actually slow down on most of the mtn grades that I usually drive.
