Oh no! That's a bittersweet situation with your trees.

I do like the dump truck idea and would need to really long side steps!

For leaves ...

Yes better truck. You are correct. Just checked our their site. Seems most of the online truck reviews I watched, were decidedly anti-Nissan. I grabbed a couple of screen shots for the 5G members to check out.

6,720lbs to give the Frontier, best in class standard towing*. That is impressive compaired to Ranger. As the Frontier is the newest truck released, and had been in development for years, I'm not sure the 6G, while have had enough time to factor for this when it's released.

Hell, they don't even list the Ranger' spec on this.

Then there's torque. Again the Ranger missed the boat.

To be fair, some of their stanard safety systems are options on the Ranger; in the US, but standard in Canada. Really a well rounded superior truck. I'm sure you won't have buyers remorse this time, as this is clearly a better truck. Enjoy it for years to come.

You do you!

This is a funny ad campaign run by Nissan, and its also decidedly incorrect.

The ranger has towing rated at 7500 lbs according to the rest of the internet, and 310 lb-ft of torque. Thats segment leading on both fronts, I think at least.

I think Nissan is saying “standard towing” which is more than the Ranger’s 3,500. To get 7,500, you have to add the towing package.

That might be Nissan mincing words. Ford states "standard towing" is 3500 using the bumper. I doubt the Frontier can tow 6000+ using just the bumper. Maybe Nissan includes the tow package as their "standard" ?

Yes and bah on leaves! Five truckloads so far and probably two more before it's all done. =(

By my calculations, a bed's not as big as one might think (at least as big as I thought).

I think the Scab bed is 51.8 cubic feet and that's almost 13 standard Lawn & Leaf bags (12.92 to be precise).

And continuing to drip fuel on the OP, here's a better look at the bed rake:

IMG_20221108_144847818.jpg

And I had just blown the bed clean, what a silly waste of time! And it's this messy even though I line it with a tarp! Albeit, the tarp is just the perfect size for pulling out all the leaves, it just a few inches wider than the bed and about two feet longer, so it's easy for leaves to get under it, especially as a tamp the leaves in with above-mentioned rake.

This is a 7'x9' tarp in 10 oz. canvas (finish size is smaller, but I haven't measured it - maybe more like 6'x8'?). I have some larger 18 oz. tarps for total bed coverage but they're too heavy and stiff to use as a way to roll the leaves out (thus the rope attached to one end). This helps keep the fine particles from turning into mud and grinding into the BedRug, which does blow out very clean.

i just use the mower on my leaves

FWIW, the Nissan web page lists the maximum towing of up to 6720 lbs.

I bought one similar to that last year. Comes in very handy when you're vertically challenged. :sunglasses: :frown:

^ reason #1 why carpeted beds suck for home yard use.

I would look into composting in a quiet corner of the yard at that point
The bed rug cleans up easily as it’s not carpet

They do make one. Here's a sneak peak at Davids @subquark new order which should be ready in time for his spring dump runs. Ladies and gentlemen let me introduce you to "Soupie II"

Here we go.

The award winning zinger is locked and loaded.

Not sure if OP can recover from this but the internet is a brutal place.

TBH, he brought it upon himself by venturing onto a Ranger site to tell Ranger owners just how terrible Rangers are and they dumb, he smart because they have Rangers and he do not.

Ready?

He has a Frontier!!

I have one after @AzScorpion suggested it. It's nice for reaching the center of the hood when doing Graphene and also for applying 303 Aerospace Protectant to the tonneau cover.

The obvious limit is that it only helps areas near the wheels.

It's secure feeling but will rock the truck a bit. I never feel like it'll fall off and I've used it at its highest settings. I do use it on steelies and am unsure if it could mar fancy wheels.
I might get one of these. I climb and stand on the tire doing cleaning etc. Getting older it would suck to fall back and hit my head.....AGAIN!

Not sure why this came up in my Facebook feed, but OP probably could have benefitted from one.

This is my favorite thing about this forum. Every mod/accessory idea has come from here. I’m 5’10” and struggle to reach things in the bed of my tremor. After seeing this I bought one from powerbuilt for $63. Problem solved and I bet a lot cheaper than selling and buying a truck.

It IS true that the Rangers on Ford’s website and especially the Ford Accessories website are a lot lower than they are in real life. Belltech makes a lowering kit with a sprung-under flip for the rear axle. Doesn’t cost a lot but the new brackets have to be welded to the axle and the old ones cut off so labor is gonna be God-knows-what. Pic from the Ford Nationals last year, not my truck.
