Pre-Collision Assist Not Available

UPDATE: I've looked at all the areas mentioned above, cleaned the sensors about every time I get in and out of truck, went to the car wash and to no avail.
The message (Pre-Collision Assist Not Available) comes on every time I turn the key prior to ignition. Each time it does, I get more frustrated than can be imagined. Only thing left to do is take to the dealership, which is just a pain and something that shouldn't be expected in a brand new vehicle. .

Sorry to hear that. My latest occurrence was fixed by a good cleaning. My truck was filthy and I gave it a good wash making sure I cleaned the parking sensors and the radar unit. Don't know what did it, but I no longer get the warning.

Let us know what the dealer says.....

I would say it's something with the unit up in the windshield. I don't have the radar (adaptive cruise control) down in my grill but my truck as the pre-collision assist. I would concentrate on the wiring up top. I'd also carefully look in through the windshield to make sure there is no debris up in the opening for that camera/sensor up there.

I'll do it. I can't possibly imagine it being any cleaner than it is but worth checking for something/anything.

Yeah, it sound slike you've cleaned your glass pretty well. Also, don't be worried by what looks like a stray strand of wire that runs through the opening of the camera at the top of the windshield at an odd angle. That's supposed to be up there; it's a defroster for the camera lens. Hopefully there isn't any kind of odd junk up there messing with the camera's calibration!

Hey all...brand new to the forum, appreciate any help or feedback in advance.
Just purchased brand new a 2020 XLT Super Crew w/ FX4 etc.
Absolutely love the truck.
At about the third time I turned on the ignition, the "Pre-Collision Assist Not Available" message pops up.
After reading more about it, I can understand issues when the sensor might be dirty or it's cold outside which both may have been the case the first time it appeared.
However for the past week, it shows up every single time I turn on the truck and the sensors couldn't be any more clean and clear and the temperature is about 65 degrees.
Is there anything else to check or try?!?
Very frustrating on a new truck with less than 100 miles on it.

good luck, 14 months on have same issue plus random parking sensors activating. In Western Australia so no ice issues, Ford have no idea and basically don’t give a rats arse, my pre collision activates randomly slowing the car by 20ks, kicks in in corners, picks up cars on the inside lane while driving and slows it down. Allegedly not a safety issue according to Ford AU, back into dealership tomorrow but not holding my breath. Company is a fooking joke !

After countless consecutive weeks of the Pre-Collision Assist Not Available message popping up after turning the key EVERY time I get in the car, yesterday I was getting ready to go to baseball and picked up my Dad and was going to take 5 minutes to eat a sandwich and he said, "hey let me drive your Mom around the block, she hasn't been in your new truck". So he did...literally probably a 200 yard circle and when I went out to start the truck again and go to the ball game, THERE WAS NO MESSAGE!
I stopped to get gas, again no message.
Started after the games, no message.
Started this morning, no message.
I'm currently knocking on a block of wood with one hand as I type with the other.
MIND BOGGLING!!!
Will continue to post any changes...hopefully nothing but good news.

I have the 17" magnetic aluminum wheel package (Hankook Dynapro a7m 265/65R17 112T tires) and they filled with nitrogen before I took the key and left the dealership after purchase.

I go for 78% nitrogen myself. Have a compressor system in my basement.

After countless consecutive weeks of the Pre-Collision Assist Not Available message popping up after turning the key EVERY time I get in the car, yesterday I was getting ready to go to baseball and picked up my Dad and was going to take 5 minutes to eat a sandwich and he said, "hey let me drive your Mom around the block, she hasn't been in your new truck". If it comes back, you can try Forscan to do a reset on that module, I think forscan even has a recalibrate procedure built in.

In any case it would tell you the code that caused the issue.


As for the nitrogen in your tires thing...

1. Air is 40%+ nitrogen
2. If Air leaks out of your tires, and Nitrogen doesn't
Then
3. After a few fill ups, your tires won't have any air left in them as it will all have leaked out while the nitrogen stays behind.

Just food for thought.

Super great news !! My guess is it will not return. Just out of curiously did you let air of of the tires ? If so what PSI are you at now ? Thinking the system reset itself which can take a day or two.

My hope is right there with your guess! Let's not return!
No didn't touch the tires at all...still at 42. Even talked to the dealer and he said that is correct for the tires etc.
