The regular oil pan is unchanged as far as I know.

Here's a Picture of the old (on left) and new (on right) versions of the Deep Pan.

You can see the deeper shelf ridge at the front of the new pan.

The new pan doesn't have the seam in the lower left and the bolt hole? on the right. Maybe that is for a temp sensor. I guess that would be redundant on the Ranger. Gotta watch out these things, sometimes the new version is better and sometimes they do a little "cost reduction".

All 3 of the new series have a 1/8 inch NPT port for an additional probe/sensor.
The 3 new numbers for the deep pans for 2017-2023 Fords and Rangers....
328053600 for plain raw finish
328053610 for the brushed finish
328053620 for the all black finish.

The info is on the PPE web site.

It is interesting that their photo doesn't show probe sensor port. I hadn't noticed that. Good eye!

That actually looks like a significant re-design. I wonder what engineering went into it - the change in the fins on the bottom and the clearances?

And what impact(s) it would have in the transmission operation as well?

I wonder if the regular pan was redesigned too?
From an engineering perspective, I noticed that the old pan's diagonal fins route the fluid to the magnetic drain plug. Perhaps to catch ferrous contaminants from metal wear. Think about fluid flow movement as the truck (de)accelerates.

The new pan seems more intent on slowing the fluid movement before the fluid is pulled into the pump allowing sediment to settle.

Just a guess though.

Here's the PPE standard pan vs the Ford Plastic Pan (image from Ford Part Catalog). PPE has not updated this pan.

inside looks very similar to the Ford Part EXCEPT for the drain plug.

PPE selling point on the standard pan is the cast aluminum construction with external cooling fins, magnetic drain plug, and an extra .75 qt capacity.

Answering my own question, merely the difference between stock and the 3/4th quart larger 'standard' pan - the inside of the pan:

And the PPE aluminum pan:

More capacity and a better heat conductor seems like a nice upgrade. I guess the casting next to the drain is the temp probe port.

Going on my 'to purchase' list for a transmission fluid swap I plan around 50K miles. To be safe I'll have the dealer do it. By then should have the @Fitzmotor dipstick so barring any mechanical failures we are all watching for (and extended warranty for) I should have some peace of mind.

Somewhere else someone pointed out that if Ford built the quality truck we all expected it would cost double what we paid. I'm on my way to doing that ?

I just pulled the trigger on getting a new pan, and didn't think to come back to this forum to check on part numbers before ordering. I found a really good deal on Summit Racing of all places for the deep pan for $249.50 with free shipping. Everywhere else I looked was at least $305, so I pulled the trigger.

Looking at my order, it's part number 328053100, which after I just read this thread leads me to believe I just ordered one of the older-style pans.

I have a 2019 Ranger - should there be any concern that this pan will cause me some problems? Is it worth more than $50 to cancel this order and make sure I get the new part number elsewhere?

Or - should I just be grateful for the deep discount and run it?

Some searching on line turned up B&M makes a pan for the 10R80 as well as our friends at Mishimoto:
Screenshot_20230918-093526.jpg

Their web page says it holds three additional quarts. The external fins are different and the finish is grey that might sort of go with my metallic grey. It would be the second Mishi part I get although I'm really leaning toward the 'standard' PPE size. Summit's website says it doesn't increase capacity but we know better.

Another pic from Mishimoto (notice different internal baffling - better for draining?):

Surprise they're all about the same.

Around $270 for the PPE regular, $300-$350 for the deep ones.

I just ordered a new version Deep Pan for $268. Xtreme diesel, free shipping and promo code DIESEL20R.

https://www.xtremediesel.com/ppe-328053600-raw-heavy-duty-cast-aluminum-deep-10r80-transmission-pan

I decided to order cause a few days ago I was going to get gas tomorrow. I drove past a local station and saw the price jumped from $2.99 to $3.19. So instead of waiting I drove to another station that day and got gas at the lower price. I get premium but whatever same difference. And the next day gas everywhere went up. It was then I remembered I've been putting off this order for the pan forever and thought "ya know, that pan is gonna go up in price I bet." I mean the B&M dipstick went from $200 to $250. So I went ahead and ordered it, before it was too late!!
