Does the shallow pan hold more capacity? I purchased the shallow pan not knowing there were two but who cares shouldn’t matter if I do regular changes. I’m really waiting on Fitz to finish dipstick so I can get this installed. Can’t wait
I would say no. I did the same and didn't realize there was a deep and shallow so I added 8.5 like the video I was following but I kept reading high. (Way above the 4-5 on dip stick). Then I looked more into it and confirmed I had the shallow one. Took out 2 quarts (thank you drain plug) and now I'm reading at the right level.

Yes, about 3/4 of a quart according to PPE. Can confirm that number as well as that's about the extra it took me when I did my pan swap.

This is going to be my next not exactly cheap project. Dipstick + pan with a drain and make fluid swaps easy. Probably save me enough time down the road to easily justify the expense. That and give the trans more fluid to use.. maybe help it last longer.
I want one of those tranny dipsticks. Is it necessary to change Bottom pan also? Of beer real interested in hearing/seeing that new dipstick. Heck, I didn’t even know we had a dipstick before trading here. How do you get to it? I hate new stuff. I should have kept old as I knew how it worked.

There’s a thread. Search remote transmission dip stick aftermarket support and vote yes. You should be on the list.

@Fitzmotor do you have any recommendation one way or another as to which pan, deep or shallow, works better with your dipstick?
Doesn't matter...if fluid level is at the right fill, the dipstick will give correct reading. His stick will also work with the stock plastic pan.
He's not making the reading area any longer...it extends into the pan the same length as the OE dipstick.
Part of the reason he took so long to perfect it...had to measure many many times into trans, hot, cold, to make sure his markings read the proper level.

I do suppose you could have a extra long dipstick with a deep pan, that way you could measure when you are like 5-6 quarts low

Damn...that's why I started this post...to se if I had the right part # before ordering.
Looks like an inquiry to PPE is in the works next week.
Since mine is a 2021, probably the second one.
OK, got an answer/response from PPE...
The new part number for the 2017-2023, Part # 328053610 is correct. On their site it now lists it as fitment for the Ranger. This is for the Brushed Deep Pan...the part numbers for the plain and full paint pans are probably different also..
Said the new pans are to fit all, 2017-2023, but apparently there was a small change in the 2020 transmissions that required the updated pan.

There were a few instances of the pump not having enough clearance and they had to modify the design.

Interesting, I just got off the phone with PPE Support and raised the issue with them. I have the original deep pan Part 328053100 series, and was worried about the close fit of the oil pump to the base. I had read about the issue over on the F150 forum. I sent him all the details of the issue in a PDF document with Pictures.

He researched their sales and told me that no Ranger returns had been made on the part I had (i failed to ask how many had been sold), so it was good to go.

Now I see PPE confirmed the correct part for the Ranger is Part 328053600 Series.

I think that I'm gonna call them back again for more into.

Just performed a search on the PPE website for a 2020 Ford Ranger Transmission Pan and got the following result ....

PPE Pan.png

The good news is that if I have a problem PPE support assured me that would "work with me to make it right"

Edit: I'd prefer to have a pan that I KNOW fits and won't damage my tranny oil pump.

I am still a little nervous about the apparent confusion on this issue. The good news it that PPE had my buyer info. And I purchased through a dealer who did not feel obliged to support me, even with information.

Here's a Picture of the old (on left) and new (on right) versions of the Deep Pan.

You can see the deeper shelf ridge at the front of the new pan.

That actually looks like a significant re-design. I wonder what engineering went into it - the change in the fins on the bottom and the clearances?

And what impact(s) it would have in the transmission operation as well?

I wonder if the regular pan was redesigned too?
