I removed the compressor from the Ford Performance ARB compressor kit, fabricated a bracket and mounted it in front of the battery. All I had to do was insert a couple rivet nuts, relocate some of the wiring and re-clock the quick connect and pressure transducer.

Could you go into more detail on what you did here? What are the dimensions of the bracket you made and how did you relocate and move pieces on the compressor? This looks ideal. I have the arb single compressor box kit just like you. I would love to run this setup!

The bracket is 8"x3"x1/4" SS flat stock that I bent to fit the small relief in the core support. I used the bracket that the compressor was mounted to as a template to locate where to drill the holes in the SS plate.
I removed the wiring harness so it could be repositioned and so I would have enough length for the pressure transducer leads. I did not add any extra wiring, there was more than enough on the harness.
To re-clock the transducer and the air QC, I simply loosened the bolt at the end of the reservoir and clocked them where I wanted them. This was the easiest part.

Great thread. Now I've got some knowledge to get to work with.

Wish ARB had more info about this! But they have a Ranger specific mount out now.

What is this and where did you find it?
Look on ARBs website in the air section. It's down with the vehicle specific brackets.
Here’s a link to that bracket. The pic on atv sites shows that but the part number in Google search shows this. I think it’s a pretty cool mounting location

I put one of these in my Ranger last year, so far heat hasn't proven to be an issue, as I have have this same compressor mounted in the engine bay of my last jeep and tacoma. (It has actually been in 4 engine bays so far.)
My only concern with temp is it contacting the seat fabric and I plan on making a small plastic "heat shield" to protect the fabric. But I like the mount so far, I haven't had any issues with it and I like the convenience of opening the door and plugging the hose in.
I also Should note my compressor is mounted backwards to the way they expect you too as I got the wrong length Steel Line. Flipping it would move it farther away from the seat.

I got a 40 lb tank of high pressure nitrogen. Fills a tire in less than 20 seconds. Will do 8 tires from empty to full. Cost me a regulator to run it. Refills are 26 bucks. I do notice that the TPS on screen reads about 2 lbs higher that actual pressure though.

Mounted my Viair in the passenger bad cavity behind the wheel. Had to separate the compressor from the tank since the space is so tight. Mounted the quick connect and remote mounted the air filter for the compressor in the bed. Dual purpose for the train horns and air source.

Any dust, mud, or moisture issues with the behind the location of the rear tires?

Doesn't matter since I remote mounted the inlet filter in the bed.

I am looking to install the ARB Maximum output on-board compressor and was thinking of taking off the spare tire and mounting the compressor it in that open space. Any reason this would not be a good idea?

If you keep your spare then you should be fine. Also you may want to consider having the breathers mounted high in the bed so dust wont be an issue. Now I am curious as to why you plan on going with the high output twin from ARB.

You are right about the high output option, i think it might be too much for only airing up the tires.

I myself have the single that came out of the Ford Performance kit. Mind you it is the ARB single. I only use it for tires and I mounted it to the bed. To say the least it works very well. It does come as a portable kit but nothing wrong with creativity.

Anyone have a source for buying just the ARB CKMA12 compressor separately -- but not the cable harnesses, switches, hoses, etc?
I've searched but only see kits available.

I'm connecting to a Six Shooter trigger, and don't need all the wiring. Similarly, I already have pneumatic hoses/fittings/etc.

Dunno if anyone has posted this, but I use a Milwaukee M18 compressor. https://www.milwaukeetool.com/Products/Power-Tools/Woodworking/Compressors/2840-20

Never had any issues with it to fill up tires after off roading. Can run small air tools as well if the need arises. I just have a charger hooked up to the plug in the back seat to keep a battery topped up. It currently sits in a bin tied down in the bed, but will be mounted to the MOLLE panels I'll install eventually.

I updated the setup I'm using with some additional photos... It's on the ARB compressor thread, so linking it here in case it's useful to anyone in the future:

See two posts starting here.

Do you have any more information on how you wired the compressor to the truck? Did the bracket or the compressor come with instructions on how to do that? Thanks for sharing!
